Curly- You're so sweet for trying
! I think I am going to book them anyway. I wonder if they have a demo tape I can listen to. Did they play all the romantic old songs when you heard them? I like those!

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Hola Chicas!!I'm so happy to hear that I have you guys to turn to in planning my NY Wedding. (I'm Mexican decent) My grandparents, parents and I were born and raised in Texas. My fiance is Jewish. We plan to have an interfaith wedding. Being from Texas in itself is a different culture all together. We are in the beginning stages of planning our wedding. We still haven't decided on the date. Possibly Nov 03 or Jan 04. I've been living here for approx 4 years; however, I am still a little green on venues for my wedding. Not to mention what it cost to have a NY wedding. Let's just say in TX you can have the works for $20G I also plan on having mariachis for our wedding. I have to keep the tradition going. We will also use the Arras. No padrinos though. Is anyone doing a dollar dance? I want to keep the tradition going but at the same time I don't want it to come across as cheesy. Any thoughts are welcomed. Also, has anyone heard of this hairstylist D'Leon from the City? I've seen him in magazines. I think he is from Ecuador. And Curly, I am considering Elegancia.

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Thank you! NO we have not chosen a Hall yet. I know ,I know....what are we waiting for. I just recently got engaged. My immediate family lives out state and we would like to consider them when deciding our date. We are looking either in Nov 03 or Jan 04. We would like our hall to have a city view. (brooklyn or manhattan) I've heard of Giando and River Cafe, so I guess I have to check them out. I see that you are somewhat of a Regular on the Board.
Where are you getting married again? I think I read somewhere Leonardos???

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Don't worry you have time in choosing a hall. The months you picked are popular but not peak so I'm sure you'll be fine. Enjoy your engagement for a while. I hear rave reviews about The River Cafe. I do come on this board often because it has helped me TREMENDOUSLY with wedding planning. Who knew there were so many details
My reception hall is Leonard's of Great Neck.

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Dear friends,I will like to apprise you of a momentous day for Latinos. As of April 23, 2003, the US post offices will start selling postage stamps depicting Cesar Chavez. Mr. Chavez is the first Latino to be printed on the stamps. As you might know, Cesar Chavez is regarded as the Latino Martin Luther King, Jr. He stood for nonviolence and social economic justice for farm workers and Latinos and he believed that it was his obligation as a human being to advocate for the humanity of others.
Please join me in honoring Mr. Chavez for the extraordinary work he did for the LAtin community. His accomplishments promoted and fostered justice not just for farmers but for all Latinos.
The next time you mail a letter, please stamp it with Cesar Chavez stamps.
Thank you.
