I am so upset, Vendor vent (2005 brides I am sure you can relate)

I just called a well known photographer from this site and tried to make an appt and she told me she is not booking appt with brides for late 2005 yet. It really makes me mad because I know I have 2 years but I want to get some things done this year before I start law school next year, so why is it such a big deal to come see your work? Alot of the good vendors are booked in advance and I just want to make sure I get photo and video out of the way first. This is the first vendors that said this to me, and makes me feel disappointed that I set my date so far in advance. We were original going to get married Nov 2004 but I start law school in Sept 2004 and I though it would be to hectic.

I hate vendors sometimes, they act like it is a privilage to be able to use there services, when it should really be that they should be privilaged to shoot our weddings.

That is a pain! Try someone else, I know a lot of vendors are booking 2005 already.

i get the same thing some vendors. even at a reception hall they told me they weren't booking for 2005 yet.

JMO, but I think you should be careful in booking vendors so early. I know you want to get it out of the way, but my brother booked a band two years in advance of his wedding and when it actually came time for the wedding, the people who were in the band when he booked it no longer were. They were very upset and felt that it wasn't the band they hired in the first place.

Same can be true for photogs...they might grow in the time you've booked them and you may get an assistant as your main photographer or they may fold. I know all of this can happen at any time, but just be careful.

COngrats on Law School - where are you going? Smart decision to wait until your second year to get married - First year is insane!!

I am most likely going to be going to Hofstra. It is the first photographer that I came across that said that.

Bridget, I got engaged in Nov 2002 and we booked a lot of the big vendors in Jan and Feb 2003. Wait until after Christmas and New Years and try again.

I know exactly how you feel! It drives me crazy

I am getting married in 5/05 and some vendors refused to see me because they said next year the prices are different! Honestly I have to pay MORE for the same thing and they won't let me even book them now so I can save some money!

With those vendors, I would pass on and find some that let me look now. The really good ones are already booked for a lot of 05 dates, so that it makes me feel like I am not looking too early.

I know it's frustrating. It's almost the end of 2003 and they should have their prices ready for 2005 at this point. If not book at the 2004 rate and guarentee and booking, rather then possible losing one - JMO.

I faced it with a few, but I had to explain to them that I will not have time the beginning of 2004 (doing non-wedding event planning with FH). they understood and booked with me.
