Re: is it ok for different bridesmaids dresses

Yes! That's what I am doing. 3 bridesmaids are in strapless and 3 in a tank style a line. They are from the same company and the same color. I love the look.

Re: is it ok for different bridesmaids dresses

We are having all of our girls wear different style dresses all from the same designer & all in the same color, fabric, etc. I think it makes all the girls feel more comfortable becuse they are not being 'compared' to toher BMs. Also my girls said it made them feel excited that they got to choose.

Re: is it ok for different bridesmaids dresses

I am having 6 women wear all different dresses in the same color (light silver). They are all different ages, sizes & shapes and there was no way I could have them wear the same dress, it just wouldn't look right.

Re: is it ok for different bridesmaids dresses

Yes.... I am doing 3 different bridesmaid dresses all in the same color. The women in my BP all have different body shapes and we had the hardest time finding (1) dress that they would all look good in so I decided to let them wear different dresses but it had to be the same color and material (at least not so obviously different)

Re: is it ok for different bridesmaids dresses

I'm chosing a designer, color and fabric and turning my 5 BM's loose to shop on their own. I was in a BP last year where the bride did this (she just picked a color) and we all appreciated this very much since we ranged from 20 - 30 yrs old and size 4 - 14. Plus we got to chose how much or little we wanted to spend. We all looked beautiful because we wore dresses we were comfortable in and flattered our own bodies.

So it's more than OK! Go for it!!

Re: is it ok for different bridesmaids dresses

I choose the color and dress designer . I choose to do seperates because my BP is all different shapes and sizes. They all choose their own top and are all wearing an a-line skirt.

So I think its fine whatever you decide to do.

Re: is it ok for different bridesmaids dresses

I say do it!! I'm only having an MOH, but if I were having a bridal party I think I would pick a color and have the girls wear whatever they want...or maybe just let them wear whatever in whatever color...I've been in several bridal parties and I always feel so weird.

I read a quote somewhere that said 'A grown woman should never be made to wear the same dress as someone else to any event' I think it's so true!

Good luck...

Re: is it ok for different bridesmaids dresses

i am only having two girls and i was thinking about doing this, i would still, but they happened to both like the same dress. i would just pick a designer and a color so there is some resemblance. lots of designers have seperates too...

Re: is it ok for different bridesmaids dresses

I also did that...I want the girls to be comfortable and feel beautiful, not sitting in the chair because they think they look fat or horrible in the dress. I was also a BM in a BP that did this because we were all from out of town....here's the pic! Enjoy.

Re: is it ok for different bridesmaids dresses

yes i told my bm that they can all have different style dresses as long as it is the same color. my bm are diferent shapes and sizes and some of them do not feel comfortable wearing a strapless dress because their boobs are too big. i refuse to be stress and they will work it out!

All of my BM's are wearing a different dress. All from the same designer and all in the same color. The MOH is wearing a dress from the same designer but in a different color.

Re: is it ok for different bridesmaids dresses

Just to add, it is important to make sure the dresses are from the same designer & come from the same dye lot, that way they are sure to match if you are getting the same color. There is nothing worse than having all girls in a violet based black & one poor lonely girls in a green-based black....she will stick out like a sore thumb!

Re: is it ok for different bridesmaids dresses

Mine are all wearing the same.

I only have 3 girls. I like uniformity.
To be honest it means I have to talk to all three in three states more often and lots of emails and opinions and such, but it's sorta fun. I am letting them have a LOT of input. It's harder to pick their dress than mine, but they can't say I forced them into a dress.

All I care about is the color and uniformity.

Re: is it ok for different bridesmaids dresses

We are doing that as well so that all the BM are comfortable in their choices! One girl that will be 7 months pregnant got a dress from Alfred Angelo in a similar color (it won't bother me) and another girl ordered the skirt and extra fabric and is having a top made that will suit her style.....I think it will look great! All my girls are happy!
