I am a co-op seller. It takes the same as a house. I would think you should know within a week.

I am a Co-Op owner and I believe it took about 3 weeks from signing of contract to closing.

Re: for those of you that have bought co-ops i have a question

i bought a co-op in 1997 and sold it in 2001 - both times, the same - about 2 months complete. You have to consider that you have to get a mortgage like a house and have an appraisal and meet with the board, too.

It depends - but usually 2-3 months.

Re: for those of you that have bought co-ops i have a question

When my mother bought hers it took 4 months to close. I don't remember the reason why.

When my sister bought hers it took somewhere around an eternity - 6 months because the sellers and the board were not diligent in getting paperwork processed, etc.

I think co-ops usually take a little longer to close because you now have the board of directors and management company of the co-op involved. More people = more time

Good luck

Ours took forever! We bid early November, and did not sign a contract until the end of March.

Re: for those of you that have bought co-ops i have a question

mine seems to be going rather quickly - we looked and bid on it this past sunday - i got a call from my lawyer today that the contract should be in his office tomorrow for me to sign...and the seller is moving out december 1st, so depending on the mortgage.....we could be in pretty quickly!!!

Re: for those of you that have bought co-ops i have a question

We signed the contract last week and are meeting with the broker tomorrow. They said we should be in there shortly after the new year. Lucky us we didn't have to meet with the board.
