Need legal advice- on workplace not promoting women

if a person resigns from a position( dirrector)
you and two guys are the person underneath him. at management level, your next promotion would be dirrector

the person who resigns, a big percentage of his work is assigned to you. you are given no promotion title, no raise,

you ask about it.
they Promote the two men who are equivlent to you to dirrectors but dont promote the girl(who is qualified and doing plenty of the work)

this place has only had one female dirrector in the past, and they shortly dismissed her after hiring......

can you sue on discrimation against women?

Re: Need legal advice- on workplace not promoting women

Discrimation cases are hard to prove. If you are going to sue make sure that you have proof that you should have been promoted with the other peers, that your preformance reviews were the same and years of service with the company are parible. I think discrimination based on gender is hard to prove but my ex boss sued on age/gender discrimation and walked away with a cool million.

Talk to someone in HR about it and see what happens.

Re: Need legal advice- on workplace not promoting women

Maybe it's b/c you can't spell director?

Seriously...I think Karen & Erika gave good advice. Gender discrimination cases are hard to prove (unfortunately) even with great documentation...speaking with a lawyer (or a few) should help you come to a decision. Good luck.

Re: Need legal advice- on workplace not promoting women

yes, she should consult an attorney. I have seen many cases in HR such as this one. You would think stuff like this has gone away but it is alive and well.

Re: Need legal advice- on workplace not promoting women

Contact an attorney who deals specifically with labor/employment law. He/she will know what specifically needs to be proven in order to show discrimination.
