Question about blood tests
How many do you usually get during your nine months? I'm pretty afraid of them and sometimes pass out
(although I've been alittle better lately-but still hate them) This has always made me nervous about being pregnantthanks

Hmmmm I am trying to remember but out of the 15-20 times I went to my pre-nate check ups I there were about 5 times they drew blood.

Re: Question about blood tests
I can only speak for the first half of my pregnancy. I've had blood tasken twice. The first time they took 5 vials and the nurse was so good she was done in like 30 seconds. The second time they took one vial for the 2nd part of the AFP test. I am not sure how many more I'll be expecting!!But I always thought I would pass out as well, and because the nurse has been so good and quick, it was over before I knew what was happening...

Re: Question about blood tests
I had about four times, standard tests. Then I had a bit of complication so it kinda skyrocketed from there! Just pray for an uncomplicated pregnancy!

Re: Question about blood tests
I had the initial bloodwork done- about 5-6 vials. And then once for the AFP test. And I had to do it again for the glucose, and then once because of my really bad swelling...I also get blood taken every 3 months for my thyroid condition, so I have really gotten used to it. I think that the more it's done, the more old hat it becomes. I still don't like it, but what choice do you have? I find the best trick is to look over the shoulder of the arm not being manipulated by Dracula....look over that shoulder as far as you can and concentrate on holding that position and before you know it, it's over.
Also - don't have your husband say things like...oh my god that's a lot of blood - are you sure you need that much? do you think she'll faint?
Those are the things my husband said when he sat in on my initial bloodwork for the 6 vials. That wasnt' so helpful.
