Re: How do you clean your engagement ring?
Our jewler where we got my ring said the best way to clean it on your own is to use a soft-bristled tooth brush or other small brush, and VERY hot water and hold it under running water using the brush in all the nooks and crannies. I plug up the drain before I do it though. It really makes a difference. I actually use a small make-up brush which works fine, but the jewler said a tooth brush is fine as long as it's soft.

Re: How do you clean your engagement ring?
I take a little cup and drop my ring in *also platinum and diamonds' and then squirt enough windex to cover the ring.. then I leave it in there for a couple of minutes and then voila! shiny as ever!

I just cleaned mine last night & this works great-I put it in a paper cup & pour in enough rubbing alcohol to cover it & leave it for 20-30 minutes. It's so sparkly!! mine is also platinum & diamonds.

Re: How do you clean your engagement ring?
My ring is platinum also, and I use regular rubbing alcohol. Let it soak for a bit, then rinse. Works great!

Re: How do you clean your engagement ring?
Is Windex ok to use....it's not too harsh, is it? I mean, will it cause any kind of damage over time?

no, it'll be just fine.. I would never use a toothbrush though.. although my ring never gets that dirty theat I need one..

Re: How do you clean your engagement ring?
Went to the Jewerly Store this Saturday and got it cleaned and inspected (part of my warranty). Can you believe it's been 6months since I got engaged???Anyway.. I love the way it shines. Even Jim was shocked at first he thought they were giving me another ring or the manger was just holding someone elses (we dropped it off and ran a quick errand then came back).
My God if it looks this good, I may have to visit more than every 6months.
In between Im a hot water running through it type of person.

Re: How do you clean your engagement ring?
i was told by my jeweler who is a friend of my father NOT to use windex. i was using it and he actaully showed me blue specks that were on the diamond. i compared it to the clean diamonds and what i thought was clean was very cloudy and filmy. He suggested that i soak it in alcohol for a few min and then take a gentle brush and cean the nooks and crannies. What a difference!!! I also have a platinum ring.

Re: How do you clean your engagement ring?
I used to soak it in a soapy water and also used the little brush that comes in the jars of jewelry cleaner but I read on here in the past to soak in rubbing alcohol and use a soft brush. The alcohol works much better. I have also been told not to use windex it leaves a film on the diamond.

With jewelry cleaner - my ring is also platinum - that's what our jeweler said we should be using - the ingredients are pretty much ammonia and water.
