waterford... GRRRRRRR!

I just took out my fine china from Waterford which I have never used yet to wash it and set the table for tomorrow and when I took it out of the dishwasher one and only one of my plates is all cracked! Can I do anything about it? I had registered for them at Fortunoff and I'd take it back there, but they are so far away from us that I don't want to make the trip unless I can do something about it.

Any tips??????

PS~ this means I'm down a good plate for our meal!!!!!

Re: waterford... GRRRRRRR!

I would go to fortunoff's and tell them it came out of the box that way They have a pretty liberal return/exchange policy for the bridal registry.

Re: waterford... GRRRRRRR!

Well, the sticky tag on it is almost off and you can tell it's been washed but not used. It is dishwasher safe, well that is no other plate did this and my mother has been putting her fine china into the dishwasher forever! I even used the gentil china setting on my dishwasher! If worse comes to worse, I'll have to lie! My wedding was over a year ago so I don't know how liberal they'll be on the return!

Now I guess I won't! I and my nmother has NEVER had a problem with putting it in the dishwasher! I didn't wash it with anything else and I put a lot of space inbetween the dishes! Who would have thought! on my mom's part- 30+ years doing it and nothing bad to ever report! Now my first time and -CRACK!

I guess someone has to eat off paper!

Re: waterford... GRRRRRRR!

If it says dishwasher safe, take it back.

However, I never wash fine china in a dishwasher. Because some dishwashers are more 'strenuous' than others when it comes to the water jets and you just never know what can break.

I'm sorry! I hope they replace it!

sorry to tell you, but most good china is NOT diswasher safe, and Waterford is definately not diswasher safe.

Re: waterford... GRRRRRRR!

I just pulled out the insert that came with one of my place settings, and it says that it is dishwasher safe at a low setting.

You should definitely take it back.

My mother has been putting her China in the dishwasher forever too. On a low setting and like 5 dishes at a time so its not touching each other.
