Re: Quick question about dress sizes

I am a size 2 and it was suggested that I order a size 8. I think a lot of the times they want to make the max for alterations. Make sure that you have a cap alteration cost in writing before ordering a dress.

Re: Quick question about dress sizes

If you are thinking of ordering online you will still need to get alterations done. Go to a tailor (sp) and get measured. On the website type in ure measurments and they will tell what size you should order.

Re: Quick question about dress sizes

when i got messared for my dress i was .5 off of the 12 so they ordered the 12 well when it came in it was too tight!! i have seice lost 15 lbs and it fits ok but still needs to get taken out! so imo i would go for the bigger size.

Re: Quick question about dress sizes

My dress was ordered as a ten based on measurements at the time and the designers size chart even though I'd say I wore between a six & an eight. I'm down to a 4 now so I'm wondering if the dress will be HUGE when it finally arrives!!

Re: Quick question about dress sizes

I am normally between an 8 and a 10. They wanted to order a 16!! I signed the waiver to order the 14 and when it came in, it was a little loose. In the past, I have ordered 12's for bridesmaid dresses when I was wearing 8's in all other dresses and clothes.

Re: Quick question about dress sizes

I am a 2 or a 4 and they ordered me a size 8. It's big one me and I am pissed! The alterations are capped.

I am going on Thursday (we were supposed to go last Thursday, but the snowstorm) to meet with the seamstress. I feel they ordered me the wrong dress, I amking them order me the correct size!

Re: Quick question about dress sizes

I am a size 8 and they ordered me a size 12. It kind of bothered me (not because of the number or anything like that) because the back of the dress is corset like with the laces and the size 12 I tried on had the laces pulled as tightly as they would go. I kind of wanted them to not be tied as tight so you could see the detail of the laces so I felt it wasn't necessary to order the 12. The woman assured me that that's the size that my measurements fell into on the chart. I'm a little bottom heavy, but since its an a-line, I don't think you have to really go by that. My bust and waist are a lot smaller in size than what I would order just for my hips. I didn't want to argue, but they obviously want the extra alterations so they get paid more. At least they ordered me the petite size so I wouldn't have to have too much taken off the bottem. That was nice.

Re: Quick question about dress sizes

I would suggest going by the individual designers measuring size charts. When they measured me they ordered me a 12. Normally I wear an 8

Re: Quick question about dress sizes

They should go by the individual designer's chart once they've measured you. I'm a 2 and they ordered me a 2 - and it fits perfect...just some minimal alterations.
