Guests - 'B List'

Wanted to know what you all thought about this idea - wedding is August 1st - I was thinking of sending all OOT guests the invites REALLY early (there are a lot-mostly relatives) and using an RSVP card with a different date - so if we get a lot of no's - we can invite more people when the regular invites go out - anyone doing this or did this? Would mid April be way to early to send out the OOT invitations - I was thinking - if I send them out - mid to end of April and have them RSVP by a month later - then I will know when I send out the regualr invites end of May...
Opinions please!

I think April and May are a little TOO far in advance, but we are doing the same thing. We have about a 3 week difference between the first set and the second. No harm in it.

i think it's a good idea - but you should do it a little closer together.....april or may might be a little early

Do you think 3 weeks is enough time? Do you think people will think it's weird that they only have 3 wks to reply??

I think a month to a month and a half is perfect.. Personally the day after I get them I send them back out.. if everyone you invite is like that you'll get them back with plenty of time :)

I defnitely plan on having a B list by sending the A list way out in advance.

I think it's a good idea, and you'll be able to keep your minimum that way..

Sorry, that didn't come out right. I just meant that one set is 3 weeks later than the first. First set is going out this weekend coming up (if all goes well) with an RSVP date of Feb 15th. The next set will go out in a few more weeks, mostly to people we know for sure are coming (my parents, etc...). It's kind of a long story.

Also we are sending a few international invites out now, with the later RSVP date, to allow extra time for delivery.
