Re: Newlyweds - Need your help - What did you get DH for your first Valentine's Day as a married couple?

We dont really do too much on valentines day but to help with idea...what kind of thing do you want to do? Something romantic or fun or a suprise, etc?

Its sort of blah but I always think having a really nice dinner at home is sweet.

Or you could go out of town for the weekend.

sorry - I don't even remember what we did last year! It's not really a huge deal for us too. In fact, I insist DH not buy me roses since they are so much more that day! I know, I'm not too romantic

Since it's on a weekend this year we'll probably just go out to a nice dinner

We usually go out to dinner every year. My husband usually buys me flowers and I usually buy him a gift, nothing crazy. It is just the thought.

Re: Newlyweds - Need your help - What did you get DH for your first Valentine's Day as a married couple?

last year...i remember well...DH and I agreed that we would not be doing anything...b/c we were leaving that night (before that big snowstorm hit) to drive with all of our furniture to AZ (MILs house) to store while we were moving to CA

I got in my car to go to work that morning...and there was a card...a bouquet of flowers...and a 10 pack of Kitkats...

it was by far the best gift I have gotten...mostly b/c DH cannot surprise me and this was one of the only times...

Teri - you sound just like me. I am sitting here racking my brain trying to think of what we did. I also always ask for no flowers to my office - I just don't like getting flowers to my office for some reason - makes me feel unprofessional - but will take them anyday at home! I am not much of a romantic! DH and I are not into making a big deal out of Valentine's day. I think we did a few cute things when we first started dating but to me it is not a big holiday. We do try to use it as an excuse to go out to a nice dinner though.

As I typed it - it just came to me. I worked an all nighter (well went home for about 2 hours of sleep and had to get back to work - no exaggeration) implementing a new system the night before V-day last year. Dh had made dinner plans at a really nice French place in the city and I practically feel asleep at the table...I felt so bad. Since he use to leave for work earlier than I do, I set up the living room for a chocolate fondue picnic treat for when we would get home for dinner...but I was so exhausted I couldn't enjoy it...

Re: Newlyweds - Need your help - What did you get DH for your first Valentine's Day as a married couple?

Honestly over the years I am less and less into Valentines day- Dh really could care less.

This is our first V-day as a married couple. All we are doing is going out to dinner and coming back home to watch all of the Pre All-Star game activities.

sounds like us! Actually I don't think we've ever had sushi on V-day, but that's where we go 90% of the times we eat out.

For V-day. we usually go out to dinner and maybe get each other a little something fun/silly/romantic. Nothing's planned yet for this year.

Niecey, you have given me an idea, we will be away for v-day this year, I am going to take our mini fondue set with me and surprise him

I got it from Crate and Barrel with the forks and the plates

Re: Newlyweds - Need your help - What did you get DH for your first Valentine's Day as a married couple?

This year will be our 1st Valentine's Day as a married couple and we have a black-tie wedding to go to so that takes care of any 'event' for the day.

I might make him breakfast in bed, though.

In prior years, hubby would take me out to dinner and send me flowers at work and I would get him a gift.

One year, I gave him certificates to redeem - a certificate for dinner at home (lobster for entree and chocolate fondue for desert) and a certificate for a massage (could be professional or by you).

Re: Newlyweds - Need your help - What did you get DH for your first Valentine's Day as a married couple?

Now I remember what my hubby got me last valentines!

He got me a set of 4 bowls and 4 plates from Pottery Barn that have the word 'love' embossed into them. They were so cute!

Re: Newlyweds - Need your help - What did you get DH for your first Valentine's Day as a married couple?

We dont buy gifts, but I like to do romantic little things for DH. Last year, I bought a box of those little kid valentines cards...I wrote a message on each one and hid them all over for DH to find. He was finding them months later in his shorts pockets He really loved them...it was cute, when he found one unexpectedly he got all happy. The best part is that when we were moving, I found out he saved all of them and still has them in his dresser. I dont know how to top that this year
