Re: did everyone have to leave their credit card info to be able to block rooms?
Nope. I also asked my friend and she held 3 hotels for her Sepember wedding and NONE needed a credit card.

No. I wouldn't use a hotel that asked me to do so.

really....do you know of any hotels that wouldn't require it? I just dont feel comfortable doing that especially if it will be at more than one hotel. maybe i can just put hotel info in my save the dates and whoever needs to stay at hotels can call? i only have a handful of people that might actually need to do that.

Just call around where your wedding is. I am sure most won't need a cc.

Re: did everyone have to leave their credit card info to be able to block rooms?
I think they just ask for a credit card to make sure you're serious about reserving the rooms. I'm 99% sure that no hotel will charge you if all the rooms in your block are not booked...but of course you should ask to be sure.I blocked rooms at the Inn at Fox Hollow and the Best Western in Woodbury.

Re: did everyone have to leave their credit card info to be able to block rooms?
The Marriott (in Uniondale) & a hotel in Bayside on Northern asked us for credit card info to block rooms. We chose to use other hotels.

Re: did everyone have to leave their credit card info to be able to block rooms?
No. there's no reason for them to have your cc#. You're not reserving, you're blocking and they have no right to charge. Find another hotel!

Re: did everyone have to leave their credit card info to be able to block rooms?
Yes, and I gave them my 'student' debit card (which has a $200 max charge). I think it's to make sure you don't cancel and leave them stuck but I know they mentioned something about paying 1 nights worth or something.... They also wanted to use it to book our room but I told them to hold off b/c I think one of our parents is going to pay for the room for us.

I reserved rooms for my wedding at the Marriot in Uniondale, The Red Roof Inn in Westbury and the Wingate Inn in Garden City. The only one that asked for a cc was the Wingate. They did not charge me for anything, they use it just to hold the rooms for you.

Re: did everyone have to leave their credit card info to be able to block rooms?
NOOOODo not do this. Why do they need it if they do not plan to charge it?
That makes no sense. They are taking the credit card number in case there are people who do no show up or if there are any other charges. You are doing thema favor by blocking hotel rooms.
Do not give your credit card.

Re: did everyone have to leave their credit card info to be able to block rooms?
We blocked rooms at the Melville Mariott and we didn't have to put down a credit card. If you hold more than 25 rooms, they require it so we just held 24 rooms and if we find that we need more, we'll add more later.

That's weird Christine, I didn't have to give one when I blocked rooms
Maybe they changed their policy --
