There's a new virus going around. Be careful!

HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT NOVARG?

Novarg, also known as mydoom, is a new email worm that has been spreading on the Internet and has gained some media attention. If you use Optmum Online email, you're probably in luck. New antivirus definitions to defeat the worm were deployed in Optimum Online's email antivirus protection system within hours of its discovery. Subscribers that use other mail services should exercise caution. And everyone should make sure they have antivirus software with the latest virus definitions.

Novarg arrives as an email with one of these subject lines:
• hest
• hi
• hello
• Mail Delivery System
• Mail Transaction Failed
• Server Report
• Status Report
• Status
• Error

If you see emails with one of these suspect subject lines and don't know the source, delete them immediately without opening them. Once a computer is infected, the worm will open a backdoor to the machine that allows the attacker full access to the system. Additionally, the affected system can be used to send high volumes of spam and attack a targeted website.

If you feel you've been infected with novarg, update your antivirus definitions and run a full scan.
