buying a bed help...

How much off the sticker can I reasonable expect to get off? The saleswoman reduced the prices $300 before I even asked. So I'm assuming there's still some more room to move.

Anyone care to share their prices/experiences?

This was at Rockaway Bedding. I'm planning to shop it around tomorrow.

Re: buying a bed help...

I think it depends on the brand you're looking to purchase .. when we were shopping .. we knew we wanted Stearns & Foster .. I can not tell you how many different stores we went to .. different Rockway Bedding stores, different Sleepys stores .. we were told in all those places that the price they were quoting us for the model we wanted was the lowest they were allowed to go .. so just to be sure .. we 'shopped' around .. and I guess that's true .. because no matter which store we were in .. it was always the same price quote .. even when we offered to pay cash.

look in sales flyers...like Levitz...they will match a similar mattress at most stores or go lower

Re: buying a bed help...

One more thought .. consider whether you want a 'low profile' box spring .. they are 4 inches deep as opposed to regular box springs, which are nine inches.

I originally wanted a low profile, however, when we ordered, they didn't have it in stock .. and I wanted the mattress ASAP .. so we settled with the regular .. and while the bed is pretty high .. we're getting used to it .. good thing the mattress was only 14 inches!!

Re: buying a bed help...

I got my beds at rockaway bedding, and both times I called 1800 mattress and got a quote, and both times Rockaway beat it by a few bucks. Worth the phone call.
