Re: Northport, East Northport, Kings Park Schools?

my sister is in Npt/E Npt and the schools are good...my BIL went there and we went to the school in the next town over...harborfields...which is also very good...

I will tell you a great benefit of Npt...there are LIPA towers in Ashroken...and then the power lines that meet by Pulaski and Elwood Road...and for that reason...my sister pays low taxes...even though she is not near either...the town gets a break...(like I think Shoreham did/does)

Re: Northport, East Northport, Kings Park Schools?

no no no....you cannot see them...they are next to NPT HS...and fields and the RR tracks...Pulaski and Elwood if you are around the area...

but I guess LIPA gives the village of NPT money...so they don't have to charge their tax payers as much...even though most don't live near them...

ETS: my sister lives probably 1.5-2 miles from them

Re: Northport, East Northport, Kings Park Schools?

MY FMIL works in the KP district, My FBIL just moved back there so that in a few years his son will be in that school district!

Its very good from everything I have heard! FH went through and he turned out pretty good!

ETA: Let me know where in KP you are looking, there are a few houses in my FH neighborhood up for sale...its a GREAT neighborhood! (my SIL grew up there too!)

Re: Northport, East Northport, Kings Park Schools?

Karen I went through NORTHPORT SD and loved it!!! There are wires behind the high school across the RR tracks that I do not think are there anymore, that have been there for years. It is the stacks and the plant that subsidize the taxes. Northport/ East Northport is a GREAT place to live. My Dad still lives there as do many of my friends. If you are ever coming out there and want a complete tour let me know!!!

Re: Northport, East Northport, Kings Park Schools?

The stacks are not a problem, in all the years I lived there the only time I ever noticed them was when we went to the boat launch- because it was right across from them!

Erica, I meant that the RR tracks might not be there anymore- I remember after 3 seperate teenagers had been killed there and they were removing them or something- I don't remember but for some reason I think they are gone- I don't go over by the High School that often- my Dad lives in the village so I come down Laurel.

Karen, do you know where they are yet???

Re: Northport, East Northport, Kings Park Schools?

no just in this one area- there is another set. I think these were not on the regular transport line- there were several accidents around there involving high school kids. But like I said I could be wrong- it could have been talk that I though happened and didn't but yes, it is on the PJ line.

Re: Northport, East Northport, Kings Park Schools?

Have you considered adding Fort Salonga to your list of towns? It's right in between Northport and Kings Park.

Re: Northport, East Northport, Kings Park Schools?

I grew up in Kings PArk and went to KP schools. I absolutely love Kings PArk and have many friends that still live and teach in the schools. It is a very close community. I also lived in E. Northport during law school and loved i there. A good friend of mine is a Assistant Principal at Northport high school.

You can't go wrong with all 3 if you ask me.

Fort Salonga is GOrgeOUS and if you have $700K then go for it. Fort Salonga kids go to KP or Northport schools

Re: Northport, East Northport, Kings Park Schools?

We just bought a house in East Northport, and heard nothing but good things about the EAST NORTHPORT/NORTHPORT school district. Before we went into contract, I contacted the school district (631 262-6616) and they sent me the Superintendent's Annual Report and some budget information. Best of luck to you!
