HELP!! I Need a Hair Stylist Who REALLY knows curly hair
First off....Jen from Fairytale is already booked on my wedding day, so is Denise Venti, so is Jacqueline Nicole (make-up).I had a hair trial this past week. I was told to straighten my hair for the trial. She then put my hair up and curled it with a curling iron. The problem is that I don't want to look like I have straight hair and that it was just curled for my wedding!!
Can ANYONE help??? Pictures maybe of curly up-dos or half up/half down??? I'm getting an ulcer!!!

yeah...the thing is...it's not like my hair is sooo curly. I just need someone who maybe starts with rollers, so that the curls look more natural.Has anyone had a trial with their hair curly??

Re: HELP!! I Need a Hair Stylist Who REALLY knows curly hair
the salon in the city is ouidad. i have curly hair and while i have not had a trial, my hair looks best when i dry it with a diffuser and then curl with the curling iron sections. i think i will be doing a half up half down do, so i will have the person straighten my hair to control the frizz on top and then curl it. i agree, i do not want it to look like i curled it, but rather my curls just looking fantastic!

Exactly!! I've never heard of straightening your own hair just to get it re-curled...looking all fake!

You can try twirling it...it is a really beautiful look. Frank from Nial Martin Salon is excellent with curly hair. Here is a pic of me with the twirls.

Ouidad in the city is known for curly hair. Also check out Christo 5th Ave. He just came out with a whole line of hair care for curly hair. Here is his site: Christo

Re: HELP!! I Need a Hair Stylist Who REALLY knows curly hair
I have curly hair and tried Ouidad products for the recommended one month. They made an awful mess of my hair, and it took 2 months of using normal shampoo/products to get my hair back to its original condition.Of course, this is only my experience, but I would be wary of recommending Ouidad, even for a cut or style.

Re: HELP!! I Need a Hair Stylist Who REALLY knows curly hair
Mya from Cosmetic Artistry. She is a vendor here. And she HAS curly hair, so she KNOWS curly hair. I had a trial with her last week. She did a nice job, but it just wasn't quite what I was looking for. But she did give me some great advice on taking care of my hair, and getting the most out of my curls.

I'm using my regular hair dresser, Melissa of All for You in Holtsville, 631-289-6578. My sis has very curly, frizzy hair and she did a great job on her hair for her wedding.Welcome New Vendors
