Those of you who did or are doing votive placecards

Did you do one per person or one per couple?
How are regular placecards done?

Re: Those of you who did or are doing votive placecards

It is a candle wrapped in vellum with the guests name and table number on it, instead of regular placecards. He is a picture.

Re: Those of you who did or are doing votive placecards

We love the idea of the votive placecards but when we tried lighting one at home to see how it would work, we realized the glass gets quite hot. Are people supposed to carry them to their tables themselves? Do they stay lit all night? What kind of candles are used, the tea candles with the metal base?
Please share as much as you can to help us understand. LOL!
Thanks.

I was going to use them too, but I had the same concern as LImom, so I'm not doing them But they are very elegant.

Re: Those of you who did or are doing votive placecards

I using 6-10 hour votives since I want the candles to be lit for the entire reception. Since it will just be getting dark at the time the cocktail hour is over, I am plannning on leaving them unlit until everyone gets to their seats. We'll have personalized matches onthe tables to light them then. this way, we don't have to worry about anyone getting burned.

Re: Those of you who did or are doing votive placecards

Sag530's idea to have everyone light them themselves after they carrry them to their seats is one good suggestion.

Having the reception people light them immediately before the cocktail hour is over may also work. Then would people carry them lit? At the Woodbury CC, we have to walk upstairs. Maybe they could be asked to blow them out first.
Marcela, how are you handling the hot glass situation?
