Poll: Disney themed wedding
My FI is a disney nut and would like the wedding to be disney themed. I think it might be a bit too corny for an evening affair. I would rather have an elegant wedding with hints of disney such as the cake topper and the these cete lil topiaries for the menus. He wants invitations, menus, centerpieces, everything Mickey and Minnie. Should we go full blown Disney, or just a hint of it?

Re: Disney themed wedding
I like those topiaries. But I agree with you wanting to keep it low key. I prefer a more elegant wedding and a cartoon mouse wouldn't play too heavily in that for me. IMO.

Re: Poll: Disney themed wedding
We are Disney nuts (we got engaged at WDW and go very often - part of honeymoon will be WDW & DL).Anyway, these are my invites. The string trio will be playing selections from Cinderella (I haven't decided on a recession song yet ...) for the BP and myself.
I guess it depends on what you mean to go with a Disney theme ...

Re: Poll: Disney themed wedding
We got engaged in Disney World too, behind the castle by Cinderella's wishing fountain. First we both made a wish, then mine came true a few seconds later.
We wanted to bring a little of it into the wedding. We have the lenox cake topper, bride and groom mickey and minnie stuffed animals to sit on the sweetheart table. And we are considering cinderella invites, possibly also cinderella looking place card holders as favors.
Try to make it somewhere inbetween. You don't want it to end up looking like a birthday party.

Mr Hostility, were eye to eye on this. I think hints of it are nice, but I just dont want it to be too much. I'll probably have regular invites, but I was also thinking of getting disney seating cards. Maybe a disney grooms cake, but that's about it. Nothing too overboard.

Re: Poll: Disney themed wedding
We were suppose to get married at Disney but and illness came up in my family so we had to keep it local. My DH is a disney nut...we have been there like 15 times in 2 years, but I didn't want disney overrunning the wedding so I just did a few little touches. We had the mickey/minnie cake topper, i made placecards with micky/minnie on them, we had the stuffed bride and groom on our cake table and I bought DH gold mickey cufflinks to wear at the wedding. Oh the string trio also played Disney tunes as the guests arrived and during the cocktail hour.
BTW those topiaries are soooo cute : ).

It depends...yes, it's a lot of $$$$, but it certainly isn't cheap up here!
My friend is getting married in Disney in 2 weeks...they invited only family and close friends (I think 35 people). Then...they are having a casual reception up here (NJ) 2 weeks after they return for everyone to celebrate and for those that couldn't come.
My brother and SIL did not have a separate reception here (NY), and there were about 45 people who attended the wedding in Disney.
FM me if you have any questions. Good luck!

We thought about it too. I agree, I think a base line wedding is at least 10k. I thought I heard that was for 10 guests. But I could have gotten misinfo. Too many people wouldn't have came.
But DAMN their cakes look AMAZING. Saw it on Travel channel. My favorite is the silver mickey and minnie stamps. That was too cool.

Re: Poll: Disney themed wedding
My thinking (which along with $2 will buy you a metrocard) is that a little goes a long way. You might like it,but your guests might be overwhelmed. Plus there is something about Disney that just screams childhood to me and that doesn't pair well with a 'grown up' wedding in my head. I think the few touches, like the cake topper and the topiaries are dignified to speak to your love of Disney without making you seem childish.

Re: Poll: Disney themed wedding
There are two different types of weddings at disney. 10k (10 ppl) and 25k (i forgot off hand). 10k i believe is in the castle while the other is off to the side or at there best hotel. I might of been 50-100 ppl. Desnation wedding to disney is not expenisve. No to Micky Ears...everything else looks great though

Re: Poll: Disney themed wedding
I got spoke with someone at disney and I asked her about the castle. She said you HAVE TO guarantee them $40,000.00 because they literally close the park after 8pm for your event. There are different custom weddings they can make for you. We did the math and for about 75 at the wedding pavilion it would come out to having a wedding here for 140 people. Plus your guests have to stay at a disney hotel for 2 nights. That can get a bit expensive for your guests considering they have to pay for airfare, wardrobe, spending money and hotel. It was a nice idea though.

Re: Poll: Disney themed wedding
My brother got married at diney, and it was great. HE got married at the wedding pavillion, and the recpetion was at the grand floridian. He had characters come to the wedding and eveything, it was great.I know the menu though was all alacarte, so there was so fixed price, and this is what you get.

Shelzpy...this is exactly what my brother and SIL did!
ETS...it did not cost anywhere near 40K! I think probably closer to 20K.

Re: Poll: Disney themed wedding
I had to go check it out...They have small intimate weddings for 10 people that includes 4 nights hotel stay for the B&G, ceremony, cake, champagne toast for ~$3600.
Anything larger starts with a minimum of $7500 for weekdays and $10,000 for weekends.
Based on a sample budget for $20-25K
it sounds like you can have a nice affair for 100 people including the ceremony, flowers, entertainment, food, beverages, photographer, etc.
I think we might consider this for a vow renewal since we just love disney
