Digital Album- I'm annoyed.

I'm just annoyed because the people doing SoHo Book are taking forever. My layouts had a lot of text in them. Every page with text in them had a GAZILLION type-os in them. Somehow it became MY responsibility to proof them! As if I am not paying for this album! They are the ones that designed them- don't you think THEY should've proofed them (and I'm not talking about spelling of names- I'm talking about spelling of regular words, like responsible)

My photographer is out of the country for a month... so basically the order is on hold until she comes back because these layouts have already been flattened. I'm so confused. But there is nothing I can do. After she comes back it takes another 4-5 weeks.

Thats aweful. Your photographer is probably not designing the album. She probaly has someone else doing them. I would ask if you can work directly with the designer so it will be all set to go when she returns.

I didn't get your FM Jenn.

I was under the impression that the people who did the SoHo book were designing it themselves..

But if you are going to put text into something- it should be proofread BEFORE it is sent onto the client- I think it's messed up.

Imagine pictures done in a magazine style layout and printed like a coffee table book- so they aren't actually printing film..

Some photographers do it themselves but its really time consuming so many outsource the work to a company that charges a set fee for each album (and often has templates to make the design faster). Or some may be sending it directly to the company that prints the SoHo album (but probably not since I think they charge the photographer every time its changed).

whatever it is it's ANNOYING and taking entirely too long. I'm glad I was able to "stop the presses" because I would've had an album that said, "responble" instead of responsible" ...

The girl at SoHo had the nerve to say, "either you wait, or we'll just print it as is"... I said you can print it all you want, I won't accept anything with type-os in it..

Oh my god, I cant believe they said that to you! What is wrong with them?

I can totally see your frustration. Was just trying to suggest a solution.

PS: Now im freaking out that i might have spelled something wrong on mine. Must.not.look
