The receptionist told me to shave it but I just wanted someone else to confirm that. I am going to a dermatologist in Manhasset (Dr. Joseph Onnorato).

Re: Having laser hair removal tomorrow...Have a question for people who have had it done already?

Laser is not permanent it shrinks the follicles, which makes hair grown in slower and thinner. Electrolysis is permanent, it is the only way to permanently destroy the blood supply which feeds the hair.

FM if you would like more information

Re: Having laser hair removal tomorrow...Have a question for people who have had it done already?

Its ok to shave it, just don't wax or use any cream hair removers. I do it... and totally recommend it. Expensive but worth it. i have had 4 sessions and its fantastic. i thought it was pretty perm though, after 6 sessions, i was told i should come back perhaps 1X a year for a touch up though....

I was told to shave before going...but DO NOT WAX, you mess up the hair follicle.

Re: Having laser hair removal tomorrow...Have a question for people who have had it done already?

Oh my gosh I used to got to Dr. Onnorato but he was in Garden City Park before. Be aware his office is notorious for making you wait a long time. I went to him for dermatologic reasons though, so you may not have to wait. Just be warned, I have waited 2 hours there before. On the upside he is very sweet and kind.

Re: Having laser hair removal tomorrow...Have a question for people who have had it done already?

Well, YES, you must shave the area. I am in the process of having my pits done, and i LOVE the results. The first treatment, hair didn't grow for like four weeks. Now the hair that does grow is super light, and I'm only on my second treatment. I'd recommend it.
But to answer your question, yes, you must shave the hair.

Re: UPDATED! Having laser hair removal tomorrow...Have a question for people who have had it done already?

Ok...Well, I was supposed to the procedure done last wednesday. But I accidentally went to the wrong office (he has three of them). So that is why there has been such a delay.

But I got it done tonight!! I did not think it was painful. But I have been able to tolerate electrolysis without a problem. I did not use any numbing cream. The woman was surprised how unfazed I was. I did not even realize that she had finished.

I got my entire bikini area (I mean EVERYTHING) done!! It was $300 a treatment. I will likely need four (the fourth is free). It took about 20 minutes.

For the person who posted about the long wait at Dr. Onnorato's office, I know. Fortunately, since I wasn't waiting to see him, there wasn't much of a wait.

Re: UPDATED! Having laser hair removal tomorrow...Have a question for people who have had it done already?

I wanted to have hair removal on my face and when she did a test run on my arm, I thought I was going to jump out of my skin! I wish I was brave enough to do it though! Glad everything went well for you!
