Do you know how much your bridesmaids were asked to chip in for the shower?
I was just wondering if any of you knew how much your bridesmaids were asked by your MOH, or Mothers to chip in for the bridal shower? I heard through the grapevine, a price and I am shocked! FM me if you don't want to post.

I had 5 girls and 1 junior. They all chipped in $125 and my Mom paid $125 and the liquor tab (her friends are drinkers) and my stepmom paid for my sister (who was the junior bridesmaid)

I heard it is almost $200 per person, and that is for 9 people. (Hopefully not the Junior bridesmaids!)
I just thought that was outrageous! I was under the impression that the shower was going to be at my mother house. But if they have to give that much money, it is obviously at a restaurant of some sort.
Anyone else know?

i have no idea. but i did hear that they had to cut the list down a but b/c the place they picked didn't hold as many people as were originally going to be invited. (hopefully they cut from my mothers and FMIL's list and not mine )

wow, IMO that is nuts... 
i once backed out of a bachlorette party because i refused to pay $100+ for the event. i was not in the BP and felt that that amount + shower + wedding gift was getting out of control.
my sis (MOH) will keep me in the loop with everything. if i have a shower it will be at a house and i will put my foot down re: gifts.
for brides maids off the top of my head:
dress
hair & makeup
jewelry
shoes
engagement party plus gift
shower plus gift
bachlorette party plus gift
wedding gift
transportation (if OOT)
hotel (if OOT or possibly local)
this all adds up! and if people are involved with multiple weddings a year - how does everyone pay for all of it? i really get confused at times...

For my sister's shower, none of the toehr BM's seemed to want to cough up, so me and my mom ended up footing the $1800 bill (and I'm the only BM still in college and not working full time). But all of the BM's gave in $160 towards a gift, which was her complete set of luggage and silver candlesticks.

Just helping out mom and moh with any extras if they want if not then you give bigger gift

I have been in a couple of wedddings, some we paid towards the shower, others we didnt. Either way I would not HAve a problem contributing $200 to a shower.
IMO when you becaome a BM you accept the fact that it your agoing to spend $$. I would never complain about it.

So I am not crazy! YAY! I believe it is probably about $185. But it is for the shower itself and the gift.
Lots of the girls are complaining.......I don't blame them. One of them recently lost her job.

I believe we did $200 for 4 girls (and another $50 each for the gift), the mom bought the favors and the MIL paid about $600.

I agree. It comes along with the resposibility of being a bridesmaid. They accepted, they should understand that it is going to cost. I just figured that I have such a large wedding party, that it wouldn't be such a large price tag. But I guess my MOH is planning something great!
Thanks for making me feel better. I got really upset the other night. Like it was a burden for them to be in the wedding. But F-it. I am really not supposed to know anything about this anyway! My FH has a big mouth!?

Exactly~ your not suppose to know anything about it, so don't even worry about it.
Personally when I accept to be in someone BP it is a VERY CLOSE friend or FAMILY member and for them I would do anything. So if that meant forgoing some personal expenses to be able to afford it I WOULD! JMHO

my MOH(sister is throwing it) my grandma is chipping in towards it,
the 2 bridesmaids will not be asked money for it...
also they are receiving their dress as part of the gift,
so all they need to spend for(if any) is

Don't feel bad, maybe it sucks, but when you accept an invite to a BP there are a lot of expenses and they should be prepared to pay them!

Ouch. I'm going to be in the minority and disagree here. They agreed because they love you and want to share the day with you. Being rich shouldn't be a prerequisite. No matter how important your day is, their finances MUST be considered, and I know that if any of my BMs couldn't afford something, I wouldn't want them to feel under pressure to pay for it.
As I wrote in my letter to my BMs when I sent them a link to a pic of the dresses, I don't want anyone going broke on my account!

i agree with you. i feel so awkward asking people to pay so FH and i are going to take care of most of the expenses ourselves.
