Getting harassed by BBB about my registry!

I'm getting so sick of dealing with BBB about my registry. I've gotten called at home by the store manager telling me I haven't registered for enough items for the amount of guests I'm planning to have and how come I didn't pick any fine china and we should schedule and appointment for me to come in and complete everything. I kept telling him that my wedding is a year away and that I don't know what kind of china I want yet and I'm registered at others stores! Now I'm getting worksheets in the mail with everything I'm missing marked off and letters to call the store as soon as possible to come in and register for more. The entire time FH and I were in BBB registering we had employees coming up to us telling us to register for more stuff than we could ever need. I'm so sick of them!!! I have to hear enough about everything about my wedding from everyone else, I don't need to be hounded by stores too! Be happy I'm giving you any business!! Ugh! Is it just me, or is this BBB standard operating procedure?

Re: Getting harassed by BBB about my registry!

Wow! Sorry to hear they are being such a pain to you!! I have not had a problem with them at all. The woman who set us up told us how many items we should have ont he list and I thought she was crazy especially since we are registered somewhere else. After that, I didn't hear another peep about it. We were left alone in the store other then to be asked if we needed help finding something or if we had questions.

Re: Getting harassed by BBB about my registry!

I am sorry this is happening to you! I registered there also but didnt get any phone calls. I did get a lot of mail from them that I usually just ignored. You should just tell them that you are not interested in registering for anything else and if they persist on calling you that you will cancel your registry.
I did get a lot of harrassing vendor calls and we wound up having to screen ALL of our calls with the caller ID... its very very annoying!

Re: Getting harassed by BBB about my registry!

I was planning on registering there with my fh this weekend. Are they really that bad? I hate being harassed by vendors etc. Has anyone else had problems there? How much do they expect you to register for? I love the store, but now I am nervous about registering there.

Re: Getting harassed by BBB about my registry!

Write them an email threatening to yank your registry altogether if they call you one more time unsolicited. If they call you, forward your email again and request some type of compensation. One more time, then you truly do yank it.

That is BS.

Re: Getting harassed by BBB about my registry!

I don't want to make anyone nervous about registering there...I was sorta just venting. Maybe its just the particular store I went to (Plainview).

So if it is just the Plainview store, the home office needs to be aware of this...

Re: Getting harassed by BBB about my registry!

Wow! I'm sorry that you are being harassed by them. We went, and we didn't register too much. They definitely didn't bother us at all. I even went to a different one to look at fine china, and I feel that she didn't pay enough attention to me. Wow, take your business elsewhere then.

Re: Getting harassed by BBB about my registry!

I know it's a different store but I was at Macys in Smithhaven mall this weekend and I heard one of the women telling a new bride that 'this store is really hard on brides- if you don't have enough stuff on your registry they'll keep calling you b/c the store looks at it as an investment....' and saying how if your registry is getting a lot bought off of it that they'll call you and ask you to come in and add more stuff. And a different Macys (roosevelt field) told me that they 'treat you better when they see that you're generating $4,000-$5000 worth of sales for them'. We're registered at Macys and I know that all of this is true but I didn't appreciate being told that- it kind of takes the 'bridal' part out of it and makes it look like I'm just a big sale to them.

Re: Getting harassed by BBB about my registry!

That's horrible. We didnt have anyone bug us at all (and I went to 2 different BBB) to do my registry.

If I were you, call 908-688-0888, that is their HQ number and talk to someone there. What they are doing to you amounts to harassment.

Good luck, hope they stop bugging you.

Mary

Wow I'd be POed too. I registered at the BBB by the source mall and it was a great experience and I haven't heard from them since. No mailings either. I would definitely complain..
