Can someone please tell me what post office let you hand cancel?
I want to make sure they don't go through the machine. We put a lot of work into designing & printing our own envelopes and I would like them to be in good condition when they get to our guests.

Hicksville wouldn't let me do it, but dix hills post office said I could.
I ended up going to hicksville, and they did a good job. I had wax seals, and they survived!

You "cancel" the mailing stamp with a rubber stamp & ink pad as opposed to the invite going through a machine to be canceled.

Some people don't think it matters, but there is a bride who just told us the other day that she let them go through the machine, and they arrived with big, black lines on the envelope. I will try EVERY post office until I find one that lets me do it.

Well, you may have better luck if you ask if you can hand cancel your own invites, especially if it's a busy PO. That's what I did. They gave me the ink & stamp and I got busy!

i think most will let you - i did some of mine at the smithtown post office and others at the willston park one (by the way, the people in the willston park PO are so friendly and nice - I love them! )
someone suggested to me that you ask to do it yourself is you have a whole bunch to do - to save them time and make sure it gets done.
it's definitely worth doing because the envelopes look much prettier when they arrive.

I did them myself at Port Jeff.
The guy was really gruff though. He hands me the stamper and says" And I want this back!!"
 Where the heck am I going to go, and what am I going to do with it?!
