birth control pill question

My friend had her baby three weeks after me. She recently went for her 6 week appt., and her doctor gave her the regular birth control pill to start again. She is 100% breastfeeding....I didn't know you could go on that while breastfeeding? If it's okay, then why am I on the 'mini pill'? I would rather be on the regular one?

My doctor didnt' give it as an option - anybody know?

Re: birth control pill question

My dr. said the pill can slow down milk production. I do not remember any other side effects. Is it possible she is aware of this possibility but does not care?

Re: birth control pill question

My Dr. told me that the mini-pill has less or no female hormones. I didn't want my son having female hormones My OBGYN said the regular pill is a big no-no

Re: birth control pill question

i know that the mini pill can lower the milk production. and right - it doesn't have the female hormone (or very little). I kind of thought the regular one was a no-no as well.
