Anna Gave Birth To A Bouncing Baby...

HELLO EVERYONE !!!!!!!!!!

(Jen, I tried to email you so that you could post it, but got a few weird messages that it was bouncing back to me)

This is Lucy, I am back from the hospital and am proud to say that John Anthony is a big brother and Anna and John are now proud parents to.............

I told my sister 'Now's your chance to choose ANY NAME YOU WANT!!!!!' (even the names that the daddy didn't like!!) -- but they had agreed to that name and I think it's adorable!!!

He was born at 11:43am at St Catherine's Hospital of Siena right here in Smithtown.

A QUICK RECAP (gotta take John Anthony to see his baby brother soon!) --

Anna called me at 2am and said she was having contractions every five minutes for an hour. She called her Doctor (McKenna) and he said to come on in to the hospital. John and Anna went to St Catherine's and got checked - she was 1 cm dilated.

At 6am, John called me back (having had 3 children, I was pretty sure she wasn't near delivery by the way she sounded on the phone) - At this point, Anna had not progressed much, but she was doing fine, still getting contractions, but inconsistent.

I took a shower, left my house and picked up MY mom and John's mom (both grandmas) and off we were... We got to St Catherine's by about 8am. John Anthony was in good hands with our oldest brother Tino and my sister-in-law, Rachel (who is due April 14th). They got here at 2am after Anna called them.

When we got to the hospital, Anna and John were waiting for a sonogram to see how big the baby was, etc. The sonogram showed the baby would be between 8-9lbs and and everything looked great! :)

We went back to her room (The Trio, MOMMY, DADDY and TWIN SISTER!!) -- and chatted with our lovely nurse. Dr McKenna came in and told Anna he was going to give her her options and let her choose. He was totally okay with her trying for VBAC, but did tell her she was progressing very slowly -- he COULD give her Pitocin (didn't know that) - but having had previous c-section, that might be too much pressure on her cervix (gosh, not sure if I'm making sense!) -- she could wait it out, see if she progressed and if she didn't they would eventually go for the C- it was totally up to her. She could wait, not wait, get the C, get the Pit, etc. -- such EASY decisions, huh??? NOT!! Poor Anna was so flustered and confused with all this information coming at her -- she just wanted a safe delivery and if possible - a damn VBAC!!!!!! Anna had been getting strong, but very inconsistent contractions... just on and off, strong contraction, break... contraction, break... nothing consistent...

The Doctor says 'Okay, while you think about that, I'm going across the hall, the woman there is ready - baby's on his way out'.

Two minutes later, we hear screams, LOUD screams!! About 10 minutes later, a baby boy is born.

He comes back.

'So Anna, what have you decided???'
(He was a sweetheart, don't get me wrong, I think he was a nice guy -- I just felt bad for my poor sister -- thats a tough spot to be in !!!!!!)

While he was gone, we were also discussing her previous C with the nurse, where Anna had a temperature, and the scar also got infected when she came home (weeks after being home)... so that played a part in her decision -- -when McKenna came back, Anna announced that she was going for the C.

About 20 minutes later, she was walked over the to O.R. , John and I given scrubs, doctors washing up and into the O.R. we all go!

After about 10 minutes of prepping and small talk, out comes this little head (I was about 4 feet away from her belly)--- just sticking out of her belly -- purple, silent -- on it's way into the world. The next move the Dr made was reaching back into her stomach to pull him out by his shoulders -- and OUT HE CAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Waaaaaaaaaa Waaaaaaaa Waaaaa!!

The cutest little face! Looks just like John Anthony when he was born!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The staff was soo friendly, kind, they went out of their way to accomodate both John and myself, even took the camera away from me to get BETTER SHOTS for me! Wasn't that cool?

We got some nice shots of the baby -- it was great to have such a nice experience. Anna was crying happy tears, she did experience some pain throughout the C and was given medication as she let them know. She is currently in recovery and daddy is there with her as Baby Nicholas was taken to the nursery. I am back home, doing what she DEMANDED I do as soon I the baby was born!

So -- you guys, not even 120 minutes after my nephew is born, you guys are the FIRST TO KNOW! (well, after about 100 phone calls!! :)
