To have an engagement party or not!

I am debating on having an engagement party because it can get pretty costly. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? I am getting married next year and I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on this party. Please help.

Can you send me a phone number and address? We're looking for something like that for next April.

Have you eaten there before? How's the food?

To have an engagement party or not!

Fi's Mom and her boyfriend had a simple brunch for us, with just her brothers and sisters and Fi's cousins - about 20 in all - then we went back home for coffee and cookies. That was followed a few weeks later by Fi's brother hosting a small get-together for the other side of the family - about 15 in all.

My parents are in AZ, with the family scattered all over the US so we're not planning anything there.

I guess what I'm saying is that having a few small get-togethers with close family was really nice and wouldn't entail too much cost.

To have an engagement party or not!

My parents are throwing us a small "garden party" in the backyard in September. I asked her to keep it small and simple because neither my FI or myself really wanted one. I didnt want a party like my sister had with 80 people in a hall. Just to much!

To have an engagement party or not!

We are having a small party--my family and my fi's including aunts, uncles and cousins. It's in the backyard at my parent's house and will just be a bar-be-que.

Has anyone ever used Coachman Limo in Woodbury or hosted or attended a ceremony at the Historical Chapel in Woodbury http://www.coachmanlimo.com /

I am an out of town bride and am starting to get a bit nervous about all these plans I have made. :0

If your wedding it soon, I think the BBQ idea is great!!! Not very costly at all and everyloves a bbq.

We booked East Coast immediately after hearing them perform - we thought they were great. I just found The Touch website ( http://www.thetouchpage.com ) through omnipop & it seems as if they have been doing weddings for a couple of years (check out the testimonial page). So I wouldn't worry about them as a wedding band - they seem to have a lot of experience. Good luck!!

We had a BBQ on the beach. It was terrific and it cost about $16 per person by the time we did everything. You'll get most of the money back. We got everything back plus. It was the first time our two families met (and we have been together for 8 years) I would do it if I were you.

To have an engagement party or not!

We really didn't think an engagement party was necessary. But we did want all of our immediate family and best friends (who will be in the party) to meet. So one week ago we had a BBQ and it turned out great especially for family (like my mother) who came from other states. They had the whole day to get there in case something happened, so there wasn't you have to be there by one sharp on time period. It wasn't expensive at all, just a bit of creative planning!!

i just spent all of the last two days writting mine out myself. once you start doing stuff like this, you stop stressing about little details. i have decent handwriting and they came out pretty well..but i think most of the focus will be on the invites, so in the end, who cares what the envelopes look like? as long as they aren't sloppy, i think its fine to just address them yourself. just my opinion.. sorry if i offended any professional calligraphers. -leighann

Good Luck! :) Lisa
