Re: I don't want to do a unity candle. Is that wrong of me?
A note to those who are doing the unity candle: I was at a wedding last week and the unity candle wouldn't light. The wick was buried in the candle, or something, and it wouldn't light! Just something to look out for...

I'm not doing it, there is nothing wrong with not having the unity candle or anything extra like that, it's all personal choices.

Re: I don't want to do a unity candle. Is that wrong of me?
I've only been to 2 weddings that had it. One was in 1992 & it was the first time I was in a Methodist church, so I thought it was just a Methodist, or at least a protestant thing. Then in 2001 my friend had it in a Catholic ceremony, but no one in either of our families has mentioned it, and neither has the preist, so I plan to skip it. I don't want to be messing with fire & wax and all.

that another thing... my wedding will (hopefully) be outside. I don't want to have to worry about it not lighting or blowing out.

We're not doing one and we're getting married in the church. Our priest also saw no need for it.
