Budget Check....
We're doing this all on our own, no (absolutely NONE) help from anyone! So we need to keep our goals in sight.Ok.. so i got Engaged in June 28 2003..
Booked just about EVERYTHING by the end of August 2003 (thank god for LIW).
That means all the deposits were made. That REALLY hurt. Then we sorta fell off to recover from sticker shock and to get our bills in order.
We've now started back up on payments. To date: around $8,000 has been paid.
Quick check at or balances and WHEN they are due (you know i knew they were due 1month before but you just don't THINK that way). I need about $10,000 in the next 6 1/2 months.
So Im NEARLY half way there with nearly a half year left.
Good news is about $1000 of that money is due AFTER the wedding actually WHOOHOO.
Another $1000 I think I can suck out of Jim's tiny excesses.
And prehaps $1000 off of bonuses and neat tricks I can pull off in the office.
So 8,000.. six months.. I am a driven woman!!
Gonna get it done!!!!This is my pep talk to myself! How you ladies holding up?

Re: Budget Check....
Good luck sticking to the budget! We've gone over a little, but mostly stuck to our orginal plans. My parents are helping, so that is a nice bonus.

Same here but now we just got an apartment so that is taking away some of our money towards the wedding trying to get it set up. It never ends

Don't worry, you'll get it done...Can one of you get a 2nd job? To bring in some extra cash.

Re: Budget Check....
Actually Im thinking of working at Barnes & Nobles.. I love books. Its just that my day job is sooooooo engrossing.I mean I was out on appts 4 days last month and out for other stuff 3 days on top of that.
This month Im out on business at least twice. It sorta messes up your schedule.
That and normal work days for me doesnt get me home till 8pm. So I'd need a 'weekend' job and how much could that help vs the stress it may cause?
*shrug*

Re: Budget Check....
we are actually doing really well with the budget. we have been putting my whole pay check away since we got engaged. my parents are helping which is good too. but my mom was a smart lady and one i came home from college she collected 'rent' from me and put it into an account. i had 16,000 dollars in it when we got engaged. now we are stressed out about where we are going to live because i am not sure if i am going to be able to work next year.

Re: Budget Check....
I was surprised how the budget all worked out. I remember crying because I didnt think we could ever be able to do it. Now its done! We just have 500.00 to pay when the proofs come in. I took a second job to help out and my FI worked 6 days a week! Feels good to be back to normal, and now the second job $ can go to the house we trying to find!

Re: Budget Check....
i've been stressing about this too! I have a whole spreadsheet i tend to get a little too obsessed with...i'm in grad school now, and taking only 1 class this summer, b/c of wedding & it is my busy season at work, and you don't qualify for a loan taking only 3 credits...
I get tuit reimb. from work for the classes i am in now, and that should about cover this summer class. But now i'm thinking of taking the summer off (and playing catch up in the fall) and putting the tuit. reimbursement towards wedding funds, which will lighten the load a great deal...
Its all about Cash Flow. unfortunately its all flowing OUT!

Re: Budget Check....
I think my budget went out the window a long time ago. I'm trying to watch what I spend (for whatever is not contracted yet) and we will be doing without some things we wanted. I'm hoping it will all work out in the end.
