OMG!!!! Cheetah-like Cat Escaped From E. Northport Home & Is On The Loose!!!!!UPDATE- He's Been Caught
The endangered cat is 40-60 lbs. & was being kept in someone's basement. (near Bread & Cheese Hollow Rd.)
They're saying to keep animals & children inside until the animal is caught, b/c it obviously could be dangerous.
I hope they throw the stupid you know what's in jail for keeping this poor animal as a pet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The house he escaped from is on B&C between Brewster & Rochelle (either of which you can take to our street).
I was very nervous taking out the doggies this morning (I kept Hershey on a leash since she's deaf).

i spoke to my grandmother today and she said last night it was in her backyard and her neighbors yard...her neighbor called the cops and my grandmother had woken up to the helicopter and spotlight. we've been woken up by that before, but it is usually an escaped convict or somehting lovely like that. too funny!

that's what I thought (about the escapee) at first!! Then one of our neighbors called (who had just came home and talked to the cops) and said all they told them was there was a wild large cat on the loose (so I spent about an hour or so thinking there was a LION on the loose who was going to jump through our bay window and eat our dogs!! ok, I can be a bit of an alarmist at times!!!)

I'm glad he was caught & unharmed. They are giving the cat back to the owners.
Apparently, it IS legal to keep Serval cats as pets!!!??? I think that's just nuts. What kind of life is it for this poor animal living in someone's basement? He was even declawed. It just makes me ill.

Feel the same way!! Poor thing - it must be so stressed right now - glad it didn't hurt anyone (out fo fear) and it wasn't hurt either.
BTW, they interviewed Stan Wiest (vendor on the board and the cat's next door neighbor) on News12!
