uh oh, Thank You faux pas??

I just read on weddingchannel.com that you shouldn't use thank you notes with the words Thank You on them. Does that only apply to wedding gifts or shower gifts too?
Did anyone even hear of this? Did you follow this rule?

Ive only sent out a couple thank yous so far and they said 'thank you' in small letters on the front.

Re: uh oh, Thank You faux pas??

I've heard this too. I think the idea is that you are supposed to personalize your thank yous. If you used 'thank you' cards as long as you made it guest specific I think you are OK.

Re: uh oh, Thank You faux pas??

I've never heard that!! We ordered our Thank You's along with the invitations, but instead of 'Thank You'' on the front, I had our Monogram, so taht way if we had leftovers we could use them in the future for corresponding or other ocassions.

Re: uh oh, Thank You faux pas??

ive heard of that before... but i dont think anyone minds it...

i bough thank you notes that just have a love quote on the front, no 'thank you'.. and monogram is another way to go...

i think your fine as long as you personalize the card..

Re: uh oh, Thank You faux pas??

I wouldn't worry about it. If that's a real etiquette rule, it's probably a pretty obscure one that most folks won't know. Seems strange, anyway... as long as you write something on the inside, why should it matter if the note says 'thank you' as well?

Re: uh oh, Thank You faux pas??

Yup, I've heard of that. I only use notes that say 'thank you' if I really love the photo on the card. Otherwise, I take the blank card approach and write everything out.

Re: uh oh, Thank You faux pas??

That's so silly.
I guess the 'proper way' sis to have persoanlized cards so you never buyt he store kind anyway ( one of my single freinds as that)

but most people don't, so they store boguht kind that say thank you are efine.

Some of the ones from the photographers for after the wedding say Thank You on them anyway.

I've only had 2 problems with thank you s from weddings.
1- didn't send any at all.
2- thye sent it about 8 motnhs later, no picture ina store bought card.
I didn't really need the picture, but I thought that was what the hold up was.
I have a feeling they ran out & family got the photo ones.

It is personalized, on the inside.
the outside has a pretty pearlized floral design, with Thank You on the FRONT. It says they're 'formal' on the packet (and Hallmark) so i'm not going to worry about it.

Re: uh oh, Thank You faux pas??

I've never heard of that before. I'm pretty sure most of the thank you cards I've received had 'Thank You' on the front. IMO, what really counts is what is written inside. Who cares about the front of the card? :)
