Moving.....take vacation time?

My job is not to flexible with taking time off, you have to use sick time or vacation, no freebies, so my question is - should I take a weeks vacation to do so? It might include closing times, we have to close on co-op and move into house within 3 days of closing. It is our first house and I would like to get settled without rushing it into 3 days, and I want to clean both places too. Should I?

Re: Moving.....take vacation time?

I took the day for my close and I took 2 days to move (I moved about a month later though). We did all our cleaning, painting and unpacking after work and on weekends. I get three weeks vacation and didn't want to waste - esp. I had to take days here and there for other house things once you move in. Good idea is to try to get cable and stuff in on the days you have off - so if you can call as early as possible to schedule your turn on.

Re: Moving.....take vacation time?

I will be taking two days off to move. My DH is a neat freak and he will be doing most of the unpacking. I only need to be there to show my support.

I just closed on my house Monday (yipee!) and we are taking a week off in May to clean, move, paint, etc.

Go for it! enjoy your new home!

Re: Moving.....take vacation time?

I only took a day and a half,, I closed on thurs ( half day) painted firday and moved sat and sun. But I do not recommend doing this, Monday I was so exhausted and I had to work, I couldnt keep my eyes open and I started to feel really ill from the lack of rest.
