Bridesmaids gift costs and ideas?

I was just wondering what the 'average' bridesmaid gift tends to cost. I was recently in a wedding and we got engraved trinket boxes from Things Remembered and the guys got engraved money clips. I've known of people in weddings to recieve Tiffnay's jewelry... So what is the 'norm'? I have eight girls so I'm trying think of how much to put away and whether to start looking now!

Also- any ideas you have would be helpful! I am thinking I like the idea of a little bag with a few things in it but I have no idea what to put inside.

TIA!

Jennie

Re: Bridesmaids gift costs and ideas?

I said $200+ but I only have MOH. And I think I spent $40 each on the FG & Jr BM (her daughters).

I also bought the girls dresses (not the MOH's).

Well I said $100 - $200 range but let me also say that I only have two girls - MOH and Bridesmaid. So I have a little more flexibility since i'm not stretching it over more people.

I'd like to get them something from Tiffany's - a necklace and/or earrings

I'm also thinking of little gift bags for the them as well. So far I have the following:

- Bath & Body Works Lotion Socks with the Lotion (to relax after all that dancing)

- Bath & Body Works Bath Gel & Lotion Sets

****I totally take advantage of those coupons we get in the mail. The foot lotion was free with a purchase so I bought the socks ($12) and I had two coupons so whalla! Right now I have a coupon for the lotion - free with purchase so I'll do that.

if interested, i posted a pic of the tiffany necklace i got from my FSIL that i looooooooooooove!

Re: Bridesmaids gift costs and ideas?

I am probably going to end up in the $100-$200 range - because i want to pay for their hair and get a few other things - someone posted a while ago about these bags you can get from lillian vernon - they are cute, and if you get 2 or more it's only 7.50 each. i got those already and need to find stuff to put inside. so far i know i want to get them each a compact.

Re: Bridesmaids gift costs and ideas?

Check out soapboxstore.com Get a basket from them with all personalized things for your BM's. Each basket could be like $50.

Re: Bridesmaids gift costs and ideas?

I think if you have a lot of girls you can sepnd in the range of $50, more if you can afford it. I started buying stuff for my girls rights after Christmas so I got some really good deals. Instead of doing bags with a couple of things, I made each of my 6 girls a basket. I got them each satin pajamas, stuffed bunnies and a fleece throw blanket (we're having a slumber party this night before the wedding), aromatherapy stuff & loufas from Bath & Body, picture albums, a nice frame and bought them necklace and earing sets for the day of the wedding. I spent about $65 a girl, but if I had payed full rpice for everything it would have been more like $140-150. I still have to get something extra for my MOH, my sister, but otherwise I'm done.

Re: Bridesmaids gift costs and ideas?

I got 4 of my BM's the coach key ring that has a card holder attached and inside I am going to insert a gift card for $20 to either barnes and nobles, borders, starbucks, sephora. (this was about $50 per BM)

For my SIL and FSIL I got them a Tiffany Key Chain and I am giving them a Gift Certificate for a Mani/Pedi at a Spa. (this will be about $110 each)

For my MOH I got her the same Tiffany Key Chain and I giving her a Gift Card to Sephora for $36. I am also payng for her to have her make up done the day of the wedding. (this is about $175)

Hoep this helps....

Re: Bridesmaids gift costs and ideas?

When i was in my firends weddings- I always got jewelry. White gold braclet, earrings etc.
My friends have very specific taste so i am buying them coach bags.
I think do whatever you can afford.
Maybe do the wristlets or something engraved.
Good luck

Re: Bridesmaids gift costs and ideas?

I was thinking about this last night....
I have 10 girls!!!
2 Matrons, 7 BM and a FG.

I am getting my BM a jewelry box with the wedding jewelry inside. I will do the same for the Matrons but add a gift certificate or another gift. For the FG, I am getting a build-a-bear or something like that.

So, like 40.00 on the BM, 70.00 on the Matrons and 40.00 for the FG. Geeezzzz...now that I think about it...I better get started now!

Re: Bridesmaids gift costs and ideas?

I probably would have spent more on the BM, but there was so many people I had to get gifts for:
I spent about $55 on each BM (5 of them), $85 each for SIL's and Mothers (4 total), $40 on FGs (2 of them), and about $200 on MOH.
I bought them all jewlery from Swarvoskis.

Re: Bridesmaids gift costs and ideas?

I got all my girls a bracelet from swarovski and cute slippers to wear when we go for our maincures and pedicures ( on me) I might also get them a necklace but we will see. Another thing I wanted to do but not sure If I can afford is buy them a shawl to go with their dress if the dress dosent already come with it.
total so far is $50. hopefully it wont go over $100
For my sister who is my moh I got her a bangle from tiffany with the matching ring and earrings. - She has been really great and supportive and gone out of her way for me so she deserved a lil something extra
