Looking for a small place for reception (50 guests)
Hello all. New groom-to-be here.I am looking for recommendations on a small place to have our wedding reception next April. Well I guess the place itself doesn't have to be small... as long as they have a small room. I doubt we will have more than 50-60 guests.
I am on a budget... so i'd definitely like to stay under $70 buks a head if thats possible.

Try George Washington Manor and The Swan Club, I am only having 65 people, and finding a place that would accept a smaller party was a plm. But both these places were really great. The Swan Club gave me the after deck room and the room min was only 40 people.

The Carriage House at the Milleridge Inn.
They told me the minimum was 75 before I specified a date, but the minimum I think is 50 for other types of parties, so maybe they would be flexible if it was an afternoon or weekday.

You may be right. Mine was a shower and it was close to the date so they may have waived the minimum.

Re: Looking for a small place for reception (50 guests)
I know the meadow Club in Port Jefferson has 3 different size room. The smallest should fit 50 and the medium would definetly fit 50 but I don't know if they have a minimum for that room. Irish Coffee house also has a small room, I went to a shower there once it was nice.

Re: Looking for a small place for reception (50 guests)
I did GW Manor in 1994 -- about 70 guests - it was wonderful, but back then it was $85.00 a head!!If you are looking for under $70, you should try some non-weddingy types of places...alternatives might be have it catered at ahall, the Nautical Princess in Freeport, or a nice restaurant who can do large parties...
Good luck...
