Re: Help..... how is the town???suffolk Wheatly heights/dixhills/deerpark
I know that parts of Wheatly heights also have wyndanch mailing addresses! So I wouldnt take the chance!
Dix Hills is nice great School District in Half Hollow Hills (kinda pricey with higher taxes though)
Dont know much about Deer Park, but I know there are some areas that are not nice at all! I am just not sure where they are as opposed to the nicer parts!

I think dix hills and wheatly hights are very different...
but half hollow hills school district is good...
dix hills i believe has a town ordinance that says lots must be 1 acre big...therefore taxes are high

The best way to find out (IMO) about these areas is go onto Newsday.con and look at the school ratings (bottlom right side of page, I believe) then go onto MLSLI.com or Realtor.com and look at statistics for those areas, crime, school, median income, etc.

I don't think that is a good area...Deer Park I think might have good parts, and Dix Hills is nice...lots of $$$

Re: Help..... how is the town???suffolk Wheatly heights/dixhills/deerpark
wheatley heights has some good parts, but like the other girl posted, it borders wyandanch.
dix hills is pricey but really nice if you can afford it.
I grew up in Deer Park - there's a west side and an "east side", both of these are good areas, but if it were me, I would not buy a house in the area around Commack Road/Bayshore road - just my personal opinion (the houses aren't as nice to me). My sister lives in Dix Hills now and she says that Deer Park schools are "okay".
Good luck in your search!

Re: Help..... how is the town???suffolk Wheatly heights/dixhills/deerpark
DH & I had an apartment in Wheatley Heights & it was in a nice area, but it also has bad parts. The whole concept of Wheatley Heights came from the fact that a long time ago Dix Hills decieded it didn't want to be dirrectly next to Wyndanch, so thay took a little bit of Dix Hills & a little bit of Wyndanch & called it Wheatley Heights & yes it does use the same zip code as Wheatley Heights, but it is in the Half Hollow school district, which is on of the best on LI. Bottomline, you go one mile in one direction & your in a very, very nice ($$$) area of Dix Hills or one mile in the opposite direction & your in the slums of Wyndanch.
