My FI keeps adding people to the guest list...

My FI keeps adding people to the guest list...

We are now at 309!!!! I am so mad. I told him that he had to stop and he got all mad. He is now inviting family members of his friends. First off Flowerfield only holds 300. I know not all will come but still. And he is not even paying a dime. My father is paying for the whole thing and I don't think it is fair. His side of the guestlist is already bigger and his family never offered to pay any of it

When I mentioned this to my FI he said that he will pay for them then. Should I let him? Is that weird. I just don't think it's fair to my father to keep adding all of these people. Especially because Flowerfield is not cheap

Did you run it by your father at all? I don't know what I would do in your case Allison. I guess I'll have a whole lot of response cards to deliver to your house!

I put my foot down tonight with FI. We have stopped the guest list now at 310! Whoever ison it now is it. And that is that

He finally gave in and saw it my way

I have a similar situation going on. Every time my FI goes out somewhere, he talks about the wedding to people and feels the need to invite them b/c he discussed the wedding with them. The thing that is different w/ my situation is that we are paying for it ourselves!!! I told him that I was going to lock him in a closet until we get married so he doesn't invite anyone else

Inviting guests can be so tricky. I thought your comment of keeping him locked up until the wedding is hilarious...

The same thing happened to me..my dh was inviting people two days before the wedding, after the seating chart was done, etc. I wanted to kill him!!! hang in there!!!

Just tell him point blank NO!!!!! Unless he forks over some money then there are no more invites!

Hi - I don't think that it is weird asking his side to chip in for the extra guest...it's a lot of money...I know that my parents set a limit to how many people they will pay for - after that who ever goes over is responsible for - so if we go over we have to pay for the extra people and of his parents go over they have to pay....IMO it makes it more fair on my parents - because it can get out of control. Hope my advice helps!!!
