How do I write out the invite envelopes?

I am printing out the envelopes. I want to have a formal feel, but dont like to have the woman's name erased and just a 'Mrs.' to be there instead,
ie: Mr. & Mrs. John Doe

This way is just so old fashioned. HOw should I write it? Please help!!

Re: How do I write out the invite envelopes?

You know what - I didn't want to do it either - but in the end I did because it just ended up being easier and I thought that 'John and Jill Smith' sounded too informal.

Re: How do I write out the invite envelopes?

I didn't want to either and considered putting:

Mr John and Mrs Mary Doe
OR
Mr & Mrs John and Mary Doe

FH wasn't crazy about the mouthful so instead, we compromised and put 'Mr & Mrs John Doe' on the outer envelope and 'Mary and John Doe' on the inner envelope.

Re: How do I write out the invite envelopes?

Same as me sweetie - I am so against just being 'Mrs John Smith' - especially when it's a female friend I am inviting and I haven't even met her husband - but like i said - the other way just sounds too informal to me!! Good Luck!

Re: How do I write out the invite envelopes?

I did exactly the same as Jordan...it made the invite seem more personal when both invitees names are on the envelope.
