WOW what a job to plan on a budget

Hello Brides and Grooms, I'm getting married April 1,2005. Trying to plan my wedding on a tight budget. I have 125 guests, I’ve been told Friday would be a bit more cost effective, however I have yet to see a real price break between hosting my affair on Friday vs. Saturday, anyway that's me venting...
Does anyone know any nice reception sites in LI that is reasonable for hosting a Friday Evening wedding reception<<<< Please help

Re: WOW what a job to plan on a budget

A lot of the places we went to didnt have a big difference in fri-sat , but they were the lower end scale places moneywise, then we went to Watermill and loved it, the difference was about $10 more pp from Fri-Sat, we are getting married on a Friday and it is $69 PP , 125 min. guarentee. It comes to $84.50 after tax and gratuity....

Re: WOW what a job to plan on a budget

Most of the places we looked at were about $10 less on a Friday (vs. Saturday). What price range are you looking at? Where have you been so far?

Re: WOW what a job to plan on a budget

Welcome to the boards. I was in the same situation as you. We opted to have our wedding on a sunday that fell on a holiday weekend. We ended up saving a ton of cash. Anyway, I looked at most of the halls located in Nassau and Suffolk county. What area are you looking to stay in, what are your preferences regarding catering halls, and how much are you willing to spend per person? This will narrow down the search and we can help you out.

Re: WOW what a job to plan on a budget

One of our choices was Stewart Manor CC...the outside is not spectacular but the people there are so wonderful and the ballroom is very very large . It s a cozy sort of feeling, wood ceilings, huge wood dance floor...Its in Rockville center/Garden city area...they were $59 pp for fri and sat nights was $62 I think for march and april....Check them out...

Re: WOW what a job to plan on a budget

Two top choices you should look into are the riviera in massapequa, and the swan club in roslyn. You should also look into the coral house in baldwin, leonards of great neck and manor east in massapequa.

Prices at The Riviera in Massapequa start at $59 (plus tax and service charge) for a Saturday afternoon in March. You could try them. They will provide you with centerpieces and a cake for that price too.

Worth checking into. Good luck.

Yeah, budgets are fun, aren't they? My poor fiance'... He rolls his eyes so much I'm afraid they will stay like that... It'll ruin the pictures!

Re: WOW what a job to plan on a budget

I didn't book here however, Stewart Manor $65 PP for a Sunday and I think it was 70pp on Saturday. However, be careful when you choose hall as the guarantee will also be something you need to consider. If you are having 125 and factor in a 15% no show rate you may want to go with a hall that will let you guarantee only 90 or 100. That way you may be able to pay a little more per person if your guarantee is lower. Of course this will depend if your 125 is a solid show. Either way its just as good to get flexibility on the guarantee not only price pp.

Re: WOW what a job to plan on a budget

Hi,

Welcome. I am getting married April 30, 2005. I started also looking in the city and it is outrageous. We ended up with a Saturday afternoon, becuase we could not find a Sat night that worked for us (there are not many left).

Try Sans Souci - I loved it but it was a bit small. I also loved Meadow Club but FH was not crazy about it.

Good luck.

When I went to see the Riviera I was told the only time the price drops near $70 pp is Jan..... And my cousin worked there for years, he was really close with the owners... Not saying do not check them out just my experience.

Re: WOW what a job to plan on a budget

Julz33 and NSGraham are getting married at the Huntington Townhouse. I was going to go there but my date was booked.

I recommend Ariana Waterfall. They are beautiful, great staff, awesome menu, one event at a time and very reasonable.
FM me for details. Good Luck!

By the time you count the extras we added to the basic Riviera menu, we are topping out at $84pp, including tax and gratuity. I'm not sure if that's good for a Saturday afternoon or not. I had my heart set on The Riviera for a few reasons (proximity to my church, decor and water view [we're having a beach theme]).

If you add tax and gratuity to the basic $59pp price for a March afternoon, you end up with $75pp.

This might be an awful lot of work, but one of the best weddings I have ever gone to took place in a nice (recently renovated VFW). My cousin had an outside caterer and a buffet dinner. The DJ was great and it wouldn't have mattered if we were in a garage. We ate, drank, danced and had a great time in celebration of their union. That's all that matters!

Your wedding will be beautiful, not because of WHERE it is, but because of WHO it is.
