That's it....I'm writing a book
What the he$$ is wrong with people? Why do people feel they can do, say and act out when a wedding is involved? I am gonna start keeping a journal from now to the wedding of the stupid sh!t people do and say. Cuz I'm writing a book!Runner Up
My mom goes a funeral a few weeks ago and is having a conversation with her cousin.
Mom's Cousin: I hear stephanie's getting married in July
Mom: yeah
Mom's Cousin: Is it an open wedding?
Mom: Open wedding? huh
Mom's Cousin: You know, Can anyone come?
Mom: No you have to be invited
Grand Prize Winner
I have started getting RSVPs back. Most have been decline bc I knew most of FIL people won't travel to NY. So when I get one that says yes I get excited until yesterday. The RSVP said Mr and Mrs xxxx Johnson, Number of persons 3 Wait they don't have kids so who the he11 are they bringing?
This couple who lives in Maryland invited their friend who lives in Chicago to our wedding. The couple is FH's friends and although he knows the girl they invited, she wasn't on our guest list. I am so mad with FH for not telling his friend no when she asked if we are inviting the girl. I am appauled at his friend for inviting her friend. Who invites a grown a$$ person to someone else's wedding? Why would this girl want to spend money and travel for wedding that she was invited by word of mouth through a friend? I just don't get it.
I am mad, but it's funny at the same time. What is wrong with people?
Any one want to make contributions to my book?

That sucks! I'm sorry some people. I'm not up to that stage yet, but I know I will have a few of those issues.

An acquaintance of FMIL saw her in the supermarket about a month or two after we got engaged and told her she had already bought her dress for our wedding. We didn't even plan on inviting this woman, but now we feel we have to.

Re: That's it....I'm writing a book
here's my entry -My OOT family
1st invite - Ms. X (no guest, she's divorced)
2nd invite - Mr. X (her brother, he's divorced)
3rd invite - Mrs. X (their mother, a widow)
4th invite - Mr. & Mrs. X (the aunt/uncle)
Well only Ms. X and Mr. X are coming (others too old) so they decide that since their are 3 extra invites they'll fill them!!! Since Ms. X wanted to use 2 of the invites for her 5 year old daughter and babysitter - I told her no, no children at the wedding.
Then Mr. X decides to bring his friend and good drinking buddy.
So the 3 travel to my wedding, eat drink, party at my wedding and I don't get even a card or gift from any of them!!

This is the reason you should number your response cards- we got some back that just said yes with no name

UGH! PPL ... my two favorites were:Last week, I got a call and our OLD friend said 'Hey Guess What' (I didnt even know who it was since we havent talked in years)...He said 'I am moving to NY in Septermber, so now I will definitely be able to come to the wedding and my gf has offered to help with teh planning' -- WHO IS SHE? and He wasnt going ot be invited! Well, I guess he is NOW
Then my college roommate who I talk to regulalry thought it would be okay to invite ppl that she knows. She told one girl 'Of course your invited - you're at the top of the list' -- Well, she isnt invited! I told her that this girl now has to be her guest.

Ok....I had one person who never sent back the RSVP...so I emailed & called her. She finally emailed me back and said MAYBE! Maybe....is not an answer. She said she wasn't sure if she was going on vacation....this was only 2 weeks before the wedding! I finally marked her as a no...and another friend of mine says so and so is looking forward to coming to the wedding. I was like, she didn't even respond...she said she was going on vacation. So...I paid for her and she did actually come...but she was on her cell phone the entire time.

Re: That's it....I'm writing a book
You guys are too funny or at least the stories are. What really make me mad
is that FH doesn't think she was wrong for inviting the friend. I asked him before I made a big deal out of it, did he want the girl there? He said she doesn't mind her there. He said he doesn't want to fight with me about it and he'll call his friend and tell her that I am upset. So now I'm the b!tch.I am still emailing his friend to tell her that she put us in a bad position. It's not fair to her friend who made travel arrangements and to us.

Re: That's it....I'm writing a book
Hey Date...Mate...Doesn't feel like after all this wedding planning you can...write your own book and call it...the Diary of the Mad bride.....
My coordinator...mentioned to me..when I get the invitaitons and mail them out. ( know, I am slow I have not mailed it out yet). She said to do it as follows.
Mr. & Mrs. John Doe (2 people).
____ Accept
____ Decline
Etc... Etc..
She suggested to put in the number of people already...DO NOT...GIVE PEOPLE BLANK INVITATIONS....RESPONSE..they would go nuts..and then you look like the bad person. Be strong stick to your gowns (guns)......and tell them Sorry, but No, unless you have room to fit them in.
As my coordinator told me people just want to get dressed and eat up all your food and want to talk this and that about your wedding.... They don't take the time to think who is paying for this all....
Good Luck!!!!

Re: That's it....I'm writing a book
oooh- I have one (if anyone can help me, I'd really appreciate it!!!).Mr & Mrs invited to our wedding & rehearsal dinner.
They rsvp to our rehearsal dinner (as we asked via email) and said 'We are 5, me, my wife, and my 3 kids ages 15, 10, 8.'
WHAT THE HELL... we didn't invite the kids- I don't even know them. The invitation said 'Mr. & MRs.______'. The parents are cousins of my dad's who I barely know. He has a relationship with them but not these strange kids.
The crazy thing is that we have not received the response for the wedding so we don't want to say anything yet about the rehearsal dinner until we get it because we expect that the wedding response will be the same. If that is the case, my dad is going to have to make a call and that is going to suck!
I am trying not to jump to conclusions- it is entirely possible that these people are just morons and didn't realize that we didn't invite their kids. But I am thinking that they knew and are just very nervy.
I HATE THIS STUFF!!!

Re: That's it....I'm writing a book
Mindy, just tell them that you can't accommodate their children at the RD.FMIL told me to tell FH friend exactly that and say nothing else. She said if they don't come or get offended then that's their problem.

thanks- but what if they respond to the wedding that they are bringing their kids? I wish people would have more sense about weddings- they are stressful enough without this nonsense!Welcome New Vendors
