Friday has been declared a National Day of Mourning - the market is closed. I don't know about anything else.

Market and Federal gov't offices (they're usually in sync). Bloomberg released a statement but it didn't mention anything about closing NYC gov't or schools.

They are closing the MARKET for this? I cannot believe this.Thats foolish IMO... regardless of a day of mourning.
They said that when 9/11 hit... they would have kept the market open if there was ANY WAY possible. Since Wall Street at that time was covered in inches of soot... and everything 14st and below was off-limits... they closed the market.

Re: Are schools closed on Friday in observence of Ronald Regan's death?
I just read more about this. They have closed the market in the past for the passing of former US Presidents so I guess its cool. Here is a clip from CNNMoney.com.
The NYSE has traditionally closed for all or part of its session for the funeral of a U.S. president, the last time on April 27, 1994, when it closed for the full day for Richard Nixon's funeral.
Other examples include the funeral of Lyndon Johnson in 1973, Harry Truman in late 1972, Dwight Eisenhower in 1969 and John F. Kennedy after his assassination in 1963.

Our office is still in the air as to whether or not we are working also. I work for the government.

Our school is not closed and I would think that most aren't since it is so close to the end of the year, finals and Regents.

How about banks? I am assuming they are still open? FH works at a bank and he has heard nothing about this.

Sad that we are celebrating a day off, but if I was off I would be happy just for the day...I think when someone is so far removed from us its hard to feel anything but sad, but for the givernment and moral I think its the right thing to do...Welcome New Vendors
