Ok maybe summer hours AREN'T that great.... (vent)

I have nothing to do.

We (Jim & I) don’t eat dinner without the other one around. I get off work at 1pm. Even if I work a bit late to catch up or whatever I’m still home WAAAAAAAAAAAY before him. Worse, I’d have to walk from the train station home. It’s not the walk that bothers me, it’s the people I have to walk past that give me the creeps.

This Sux!

Next week is “Options Friday” which is the third Friday of every month and Jim works extra late (than usual which is already pretty late) and with this 1pm release time… it means I have nothing to do for HOURS and HOURS!

Even if I went home it’s ‘awkward’. His grandmother tries to feed me and doesn’t understand I won’t eat without Jim. I just want to sit in my room and be left alone, but she’ll stop by and give me a drink or knock and ask where Jim is and if it’s a late night like Options Friday she’ll keep bothering me to feed me. ARGH!

Summer hours are NOT always good!

You could go to a movie, read in the park. If it's going to be hours, can you have a snack with the grandmother to be polite and then have dinner when jim comes home?

I don't see movies without him either..

If she spoke English I would. Usually I get to a point where i just take her food.

If the weather isn't too bad I normally just pick up my car and drive over to B&N and read.

It just get's a bit dull... HRMMMMM *IDEA* maybe I should get a PT job at B&N for this summer time?????
3 months worth and only 2 fridays I need to work here.. OOOH there's an idea!

I always like to go shopping without the FH...Maybe you could even hang out in the city longer, do some shopping in there or hang out in the city library...I had last Friday off, FH didn't, and I had a great time doing wedding errands without him

I don't take it the wrong way at all. It's pathetic I know it. I am just a very busy person at the job. We both are trying to get out more.. I do the GTG with LIW girls. I hang out with some of the ladies at work but generally speaking (yes, this is a shocker) im not really all that social. I'd sit around read.

So I don't do much without Jim or he without me. Yep, we're an odd couple. We both generally work until around 7:15pm or so. Don't really see eachother until 8pm or later at night. So we have about 3 hours for 'us'. So yeah, we like to keep it to eating together and having fun together.

I hated that my family never sat at the same dinner table. We both refuse to allow that to happen. *shrug* Did I mention we're werid?

I used to see movies by myself but now Jim wants to see the same ones I do, doesnt make sense for me to pay for them twice. Im not a chic flick type so there's not much out there I want to see that he doesnt. I used to hang out with my roomies but they're too far now. I really don't have a lot of friends and absolutely no family here at all.

We don't talk to eachother during the day (Jim & I) no phone calls, no IM, no emails - nothing. Its never been my style to have to hear 'i love you' or sappy stuff while Im working (or LIWing). So what time we have we spend together. Still im working on getting new friends. But most don't have summer hours.

Re: Ok maybe summer hours AREN'T that great.... (vent)

I have summer hours too.
Usually the times goes by quickly before Jean comes home, but in generally I have a problem with time getting way from me.

There are tons of things to do in the city though. Lost of museums that aren't too expensive, walking & people watching. You could alwyas go to the library, to read in air conditoning, without interruption.

I also like to get chores done then, so we can do fun stuff when we are both home.

Re: Ok maybe summer hours AREN'T that great.... (vent)

interesting perspective on things

i guess boosh and i do the same thing with eating -- she waits for me to eat dinner, but that's where it ends. I also get home around 8, but occasionally during the week, Boosh will go line dancing or something else and I'll be alone, or I'll go to dinner with friends.

On the days off, I do my own thing as well.
