Wedding Gift Question
Ok so I know that the bride and groom should not have an expectation of gifts at the wedding. With that said (and understood) can you tell me typically what you give when you go to a wedding?
I'll start:
Friend: $200 - $300 Family: $300
Friend (and had to travel): $150 - $250

Re: Wedding Gift Question
it's sooo subjective. I hardly ever give more than 300 in cash for the wedding, but sometimes I go nuts with showers, especially if its for a good friend and I am having fun shopping.

Re: Wedding Gift Question
I'd say generally about $300-400 for family & friends (but I think it also depends on the affair and the relationship).
ETA: Travel expense would not change my gift giving amount.
But I did give my brother $1000 when he got married because over the years when he was really doing well (he's a trader & had *very* good bonus years), he would give me wads (lol) of cash for Xmas. At the time he got married, it wasn't the same gravy train.
