6/5/04 Vineyard Caterers Wedding Review :)

Hi Ladies!
I'm married & Back! Hope you all have been well! This is a long one, but hopefully you are all relaxed with coffee (or nice drink) in hand..

First - here are pics:

some proofs & some from my aunt (ones with date stamp primarily). but all were wonderful. the proofs i think didn't scan
so great, so you can't see all the detail (like our rings, etc).

Next: Review-Everything was great!

Mother Nature: A -. thanks for having the sun come out for the ceremony - it
was a little shaky there the morning of June 5th, as to whether it would rain or not. Thanks for holding it in until late that night! You enabled a great wedding & bonfire on the beach afterwards :)

Vineyard Caterers: A+. Anyone having their wedding there will be well taken care of. Matre D & B. Attendant were wonderful. Beautiful grounds, great people. brought DH out his own tray of pigs in blankets for cocktail hr (he mentioned they were his favorite).

Photographer: George from Jessica Photography A-. George himself was
a great guy. I got my proofs (see link) within a week and a half, and they were great! we didn't get 2 photographers, since we had such a small wedding (90ppl), but i wish we had a second person to get some additional
shots better. But that was our choice, and primarily $$ driven. But I'm sure friends/relatives will have taken shots we want, so i'm not upset. George was very agreeable to suggestion, and was able to make all the magic happen for our posed shots, even though i was way late getting dressed & down for photos! Some shots i know he took, we didn't see in the proofs, so i'm figuring they didn't come out so good. which is the reason for the -. Otherwise- kudos!

Videographer: Rebecca from Jessica Photography A. Haven't seen footage, so
maybe this is premature, but she was fantastic. so nice, helped me with my
dress even for pictures (to help george), was very calm & nice when asked for things. of course, she mostly asked us to kiss, which was no problem :)

Limo: didn't use any.

Preist: Father Douglas Trees A+: Chezaliers de Notre Dame's Catholic

Supremely nice guy. our wedding is considered Catholic without the hoo-haa
of the church. Donation goes to a Children's hospital in St. James. Priest was great, although our BMan said with the sunglasses (i think there is one pic there) he kind of looks like the dead guy from 'Weekend at Bernies', but i digress. He was a pleasure to work with.

Hair: A: Carolyn Walter (631) 722-5113. Located in Aquebogue. half up/half down style. my hair was not quite as flow-y as i would have liked (lots of hairspray in the curls when she first finished), but they stayed put all day, and i never even thought twice about how it looked. and received many compliments.

Makeup A: Allison Pressler (631) 722-4702. Also out of Aquebogue. works often w/ Carolyn. Great job, i also got many compliments on her work. Both
ladies helped me 'clean up good'..

Flowers: Jack & Rose A. Jack personally oversaw our flower arrival. I loved my bo-k (peonies & roses). i changed our flowers about 3 mos before the wedding, he was cool about everything. The end result was beautiful.

Tuxes: Mens Warehouse A (amazingly). Was nervous b/c had heard conflicting reviews. But everything went great. Opened account in Forest Hills (after getting discounted rate at a bridal show), and picked up in Patchogue. Had orders from CA as well, everything was great. All guys said
Patchogue people were great.

Gown: Maggie Sottero 'Angelina' - Lidia's Bridal - A. Everyone was extremely nice. in Copaigue - by train station. Seamstress originally did my bustle crooked (one side was higher than the other). Luckily my aunt
caught it, and they fixed it no problem. Otherwise all was smooth sailing.

Ceremony Music: Royal Brass String Quartet. A. Wonderful people out of Manorville. A couple in the quartet actually play with my grade school violin teacher, so to me that was enough of a good reference (not biased am
i?). Don't remember too much myself, but what i did hear (who is not in a bit of a daze at their wedding) was beautiful.

DJ - Then Til Now - A. Steve (the owner) was our MC and did a great job. we had a small group, and some people were a little slow getting to the floor. but Steve got em up eventually, and everyone had a great time. He played most of the music we requested (we had a long list). I got referred to him by my cousin, who uses him a lot.

Honeymoon (finally!): Key West & Aruba.
Wyndam Key West: B. was away from main drag (we knew this) but hotel could have been a little nicer for the $$. But staff was accomodating on any issues. overall a nice experience
Radisson Aruba A+! Want to go back to both places again. both were heavenly in their own way.
Travel Agent: In & Out Travel in Lindenhurst A+! We had issues with American Air on our HM, and Dave made everything OK. He was wonderful. Use him or anyone in his office, he'll be there for you if you run into ANY problems while away.

That, and i highly recommend you NOT fly American Air out of Key West. EVER. Any other airline was very nice. I may never fly American again, if I have my way. The people working the terminal there live in paradise (the Keys), and are the nastiest people i have ever met. They screwed us from missing our original flight from KW to Miami (to get to Aruba). Thanks to Dave at In & Out Travel, all it ended up doing was extending our HM a day (due to layovers,etc) on American, but they were awful people nevertheless.

Congrats!! Sounds like it was all lovely. I am getting married at Raphael in Peconic, end of August. I've been looking for someone local for hair and makeup. Can you give me their #, if they were good? Also if you can send an FM with approx. prices they charged you...
What hotels/motels did you use?
Any other pre or post-wedding activities?

I forgot to mention we had our rehearsal dinner at the Meetinghouse Creek Inn the night before, and all was very good there as well. I think its in Aquebogue as well.

Everyone enjoyed themselves & the food.
