What do you girls think of having an 8-month old as a flower girl?

Our niece will be 8 months old by the time our wedding comes (she's the only niece). I thought the Trista and Ryan way of including a baby was really cute. Plus we're considering having a ring bearer who will be 3 1/2. Has anyone ever seen this done at a "real" wedding or is anyone having a baby in the BP? How are you doing it? Any other ideas would be great!

Ive been to a lot of weddings where the flowergirl is very young and ends up not coming down the aisle at the last minute b/c she is crying, upset, spilled juice on her dress, etc..

As long as you are okay with things being a bit out of control at the ceremony, its really adorable when it works.

But I think it might be tough to get a 3 year old to pull a wagon or anything like that. If you want to do that sort of thing, you might want to have an older child do it or an adult.

Also, there will be no flowers thrown by a 8month old. (obvious I know but i thought id mention it)

Does your church have an organ? If it does I wouldn't do it. I have seen many a flower girl and ring bearer run in the opposite direction if there is an organ.

Is the mother in the wedding?

I would just have the baby in some wedding pictures but I wouldn't include her in the ceremony or too many pictures.

That is the reason we didn't even have one. My husband's youngest second cousin is in everyone's wedding. We've seen her throw a fit during one mass because the bride had her up at 5am for hair and pictures and it was too early for a little girl. She has also peed'd her dress at another reception because she couldn't go to the bathroom by herself and didn't want to bother anyone.

It seems easier IMO to dress the baby up if you want and then have her in family pictures but that's it. What are you going to do if she cries your entire ceremony or if the crowd claps when you kiss and it freaks the baby out, to me it would put too much stress on the mom and the bride.

And also does your church allow a cart to be pulled inside of it?

We are having FI nephew who will be three and his niece who will be 11 months. We want them in the ceremony and I don't care how out of control they get. They are a huge part of our lives. We are having his nephew pull a wagon with her in it. He is very capable of doing it. I think you should go for it if it means a lot to you

Fiance's nephew (ringbearer) will be 3 1/2 , an his neice(flower girl) will be 18 months.

It is up to the kids and their parents (both in bridal party) what level of involvement the kids will have. Maybe walk down the aisle, maybe just sit with their grandparents, maybe playing/running around the church. It isn't really an issue to me I just want them there. I'd love it if he pulls her down the aisle in a little wagon, but I just don't really see that going smoothly.

They are a big part of our life and I couldn't imagine not involving them, even if it's only in title. We really just want them to have fun.

My niece was 18 months for my wedding. She was not to happy about walking down...thankfully I had my ringbearer hold one of her hands and our Jr Usher held her other hand to walk her down.
