Candy Buffet?

FH and I were thinking of doing a candy buffet at our reception since I am such a candy freak...a friend of mine said her sister did it...I had never heard of it before and it sounded like a really good idea! Has anyone done this/ or are you planning on doing it...and if so would you have any pics? She is looking for the pics of it she took at her sisters wedding of it and can't seem to find them. Any info on it would be great...It sounds like a fun thing to do...but I am not sure exactly how to do it. Thanks for your help ladies!

Re: Candy Buffet?

I am doing it ...

If you do a search, you can see that I posted pictures of candy jars and scoops that I was looking at yesterday and I am think I am going to alternate between that an jugs, salad bowls and vases to keep is interest. Also, I used froogle.com to find cheap scoops by oxo about $1 each. And then we will get bags and put labels on each saying 'Thank you'

As for the candy, I plan on buying it from online wholesellers. We figured we will need about 4oz of candy per guest. (I also think I am going to get those big round colorful lollipops for the kids and mark the bin 'KIDS ONLY')

Because my theme is pink and brown, I wanted to get all. However, there are soo many good candies I cant decide (like Swedish Fish!). We are also getting M&Ms that match the colors of our wedding :).

I will bring over all the candy in the jars to the hall with some candles to place on the table as well. The North Ritz will set up the whole thing for us after they bring out the cake so that guests dont pick at it through the night. And I will have notes on each setting asking guests to participate.

I think it will be great. FM me if you have more q's.

Re: Candy Buffet?

I was going to do it, but decided otherwise.

I purchased the glassware from Follow Your Heart, a vendor on here.

I picked up some rustic urns at Michaels and they were going to be filled with gem sugar which I got from GemSugar.com as well as SpecialTeas.

I bought scoops from Lemelange.com

More scoops available at HappyCookers.com:

Re: Candy Buffet?

My FI & I love this idea but we were concerned that people may not understand how it works or some people might walk off with WAY too much. Do you think my hall would provide 2 of the waiters to assist people & fill the bags?

Re: Candy Buffet?

At the least the Maitre Dee will know whats going on, so he can keep an eye out to help. I will have a note at each setting explaining to people all about it and will have the DJ make an announcement.

ETA: Also, if you get smaller bags - they cant take too much!

Re: Candy Buffet?

Not precisely but something like ....

'Thank you for celebrating today with us. As a token of our gratitude, please help yourself to our candy buffet that we have set up for your enjoyment.'
