anyone else think they can never afford a home?

It seems like the prices just keep going up. How will i ever afford one?

We can't, that's for damned sure. Basically, one of us has to sell a screenplay.

i feel that way also that's why we're going for a co op..it gets our feet wet at least..it might be small without a backyard but its our small backyardless place..lol

i am right there with you. we are almost in contract. my fi is confident and he is pretty good with that stuff. i, on the other hand, am a huge worrier.

us too. we have a rent stabalized 1BR apt in FH (somehow fell into that one), so we pay only $1100/mo (rent and private parking garage behind building hellooo storage!) - we've been here for a long time. But we are busting out of this place like no tomorrow.

We so want a house, and to go back to LI. But it is overwhelming!

i flip-flop over 2BR coop vs. house every day. ugh!

im right there with both of you. we are in contract and the appraiser to coming on tuesday so im getting very nervous. i thought we could neevr afford a house but it does happen

DH & I were talking about this tonight and we are hoping/expecting the price of houses to come down a bit as the interest rates go up - the payments are the same but more deductions and possible refinancing in the future if the rates drop again keep us optimistic. In the meantime, we keep saving. Of course it doesn't help that we don't know where we want to live.

I believe that rates will stay high for the rest of the year as this is an election year and then the rates will remain stagnant or even drop. A lot of people are doing condos as starters. Could you do that?

My DH and I feel the same way. Except he'd have to sell a song!

It'll happen one day for us, but not for a long time. . . .which is something I need to come to terms with.
