Dress shopping for the 1st time
So, I am going dress shopping for the 1st time next week. I am making appoinments during the week since I have heard that weekends are a nightmare. What should I expect? What is going to happen when I walk in? I am a little nervous. I am making appointments at the wedding salon of manhasset and lillettes in baldwin.

Re: Dress shopping for the 1st time
Honestly, I don't know what to tell you. I only went to one place and found my perfect dress there. Unfortunately it was packed (they were having a sale) and it was a kind of "fend for yourself" type deal. I didn't ask any questions, just went to a rack, picked out a few, waited for a fitting room, and tried them on.

Re: Dress shopping for the 1st time
First of all, don't be nervous, you are going to have a ball!
Here are some pointers that were given to me:
1) Look through magazines and bring some pictures of styles that you like. BUT - be sure to try on all different styles. Something that you never would have given a second look might just end up being THE ONE. 2) As you try on dresses try to always keep your #1 choice in mind. This makes it easier to remember your favorite, and keeps all of the dresses from becoming a big blur. 3) Note which style neckline, waistline, sillouete, etc. flatters you most. Once you have determined all of this, you can look for a dress with all of these ingredients. 4) Wear undergarments that you would not be embarrassed to have the saleslady see you in. 5) Bring a little snack and drink - if you go to a few places in one day, it becomes really tiring. Getting into and out of those gowns (some of them heavy) plus all of the excitement will take a toll on you. 6) HAVE FUN!
I have never been to the wedding salon of manhasset, but I have worked with Geri at Lillettes - she is awesome!!

wedding salon of manhasset.... a bit pushy and very pricey but beautiful
lilettes...no personal experience but here very nice there
look through magazines and bring pictures...trust the lady you work with when she tells you try on all different styles
