Guest Review of Metropolitan Wedding (w/pics)
I went to a wedding at the Metropolitan last night and I just wanted to post a little review.
Cocktail Hour
Took place inside and outside... there was a pasta station which was excellent, the calamari was perfect, and the passed hors d'euvres included beef satay and grilled shrimp which were amazing. It wasn't as lavish a CH (in terms of food selection) as some other catering halls, but food was excellent. There weren't enough tables for everyone to sit, but not everyone needs to sit at the CH anyway. I would guess they had around 140 guests.
Dinner
All the food was fabulous, I had the Dijon Chicken and FH had the Filet Mignon which was perfectly cooked. The flow of the evening went very well thanks to the service and the DJ. Everytime I came back from dancing, the next course had been just been served and my food was ready and waiting for me.
She used low centerpieces (see pics) and even though they weren't elaborate, the candles made all the difference. If you are doubting using candles in your CPs for whatever reason, just use them. Another interesting thing is that they had only 2 menus per table and it turned out to be more than enough for a table of 10.
They didn't do a bo-k/garter toss but saved the parent dances for the end. Having the parent dances toward the end of the evening (after cutting the cake even) kind of kills the party a little but it also makes them a little more emotional because everybody is drunk by then. So take your pick.
They had a "Viennesse Table" which I don't know what is the difference between that and a Viennesse Hour because the dessert selections were endless! It was soooo good. In order to write a good review, I of course had sample a little of almost everything. The make your own sundae bar was a big hit.
The favor was a Pepper Mill, which I was really happy about getting because we need one. And they had a sort of donation favor. Now, I am not a big fan of the donation favor but this made me change my mind. They had two trees planted in the name of each guest by the National Arbor Day Foundation in Caribou-Targhee National Forest. (A LodgePole Pine and a Douglas fir)
Two minor things: Brides who are planning to wear or change into flip flops... I implore you to reconsider. I know you think they won't show, but they really do. Everytime you pick up your gown to walk, they show. When you climb stairs and dance, etc they show.... and well...sometimes it really doesn't look as "cute" as you may think. If don't care about that, then by all means, be comfy!
The other thing -- and I have to word this carefully, I know. The Bride told me they had a very bad experience with their limo company - M & V. FM me if you want details.
All in all it was a great wedding, everyone had a good time, the dance floor was packed all night, the bride was absolutely gorgeous (she wore a gown by Impressions, I think, with sheer bell sleeves) and glowing and so was the groom -- and you could just feel the love and happiness in that room and that's really what made the wedding beautiful.

Personally, I disagree with this....if I hadnt' changed into flip fliops, i would have not been able to dance or enjoy my wedding. it didn't show in a lot of the pictures, and when it did, it didn't look all that bad.

Re: Guest Review of Metropolitan Wedding (w/pics)
My parents were at the same wedding last night. The father of the groom is a cousin of my father.
I haven't talked to my parents yet about the wedding.

Re: Guest Review of Metropolitan Wedding (w/pics)
Thank you so much for your honest review! I'm having my wedding there this November, and I'm so happy that you gave an overall positive review! I hadn't thought about having a dessert table, but I definitely will consider it now.
