Anyone use the sign in picture frame from pottery barn?

I know it comes with one black marker, but can I substitute it with another color? I dont want it to smudge or ruin it if I dont use the black marker they provide......

Re: Anyone use the sign in picture frame from pottery barn?

We did ... I think we had that marker out as well as one or two other finer point pens ...

(Of course near the end of the night a drunk friend of DH wrote a joke about BLOW JOBS on the bottom and now I have to figure out how to cover/remove, etc. DH had told the same joke on this guys wedding video during the interviews and it somehow made it to the final version - which they found out the first time they watched it with the brides parents).

So you recommend using pens and not markers? I was thinking of using the gel pens. Im just deathly afraid that they will smear!!

I plan to use it - but I am so afraid that someone will write something embarassing or lewd. I'll probably have them take it down 1/2 way through the wedding so that cuts down on drunk people writing something terrible. I want to use gel pens too.

Re: Anyone use the sign in picture frame from pottery barn?

The finer point pens were uniball vision (that claim to be waterproof/fade-proof).

ETA: I think the mat is porous enough that it absorbs the ink right away because from what I can recall (it's still in the box from when we brought it home from Danford's) there were no smearing.

Re: Anyone use the sign in picture frame from pottery barn?

This is a great question... I was thinking the same thing. I like the uniball pens, but aren't those a little sharp for the matte cut-out?
