I kind of feel bad...
my future step-daughter (10 1/2 yo) let it slip that there is going to be a 'surprise' for me next weekend. I was telling her that I wanted to bring her to see the Princess Diaries 2 and for ice cream at a new place that opened up here and she said there wasnt time with everything going on next weekend. My FH is mad but I explained that she didnt know what she was doing. I still dont know whether its Sat or Sun or where or what time.

Don't feel bad, these things happen. It's not like she set out to ruin the surprise for you and I think it's a little unfair for your FH to be upset with her. I can understand him being disappointed that now you won't be surprised, but his daughter is just a little girl, I'm sure she feels bad enough as it is.

oh- that's so sad
How does your future step-daughter feel? I hope she dosen't feel too bad for ruining it.. she's only 10 1/2! You can tell her at least the DAY (sat/sun) will be a surprise!)Look at the positives... at least you can plan what you wear each day to make suer it's someing nice... that's what i'm afraid of (being dressed like a bum... ahhhh)

At least she's 10 and has an excuse. One of my co-workers (way over the age of 10) just called me and said 'I got the nicest invitation to your bridal shower, but I don't think I can go - I'll be away on the ....' and I stopped her before she could say the date.
No excuse!!
You're still going to have a great time, no matter what and no one else needs to know that you got a clue!!

My friend called me and said, 'I got your shower invitation in the mail today but I don't know if I can make it.' I said, 'I'm not having a shower. I talked about it with my family. I think you mean my bachelorette party.' And she said, 'No, I mean your shower.' And I said, 'You must be confused. I know my bachelorette party invites went out via email yesterday...you probably misread it.' And she said, 'Nope, it's your shower, and I got it via snail mail. It's on XX/XX/02 at XXXX place.' I was SO PISSED at her! I said, 'Oh, well it must have been a surprise...' And she said, 'Not anymore!' She also RSVP'd to my wedding with a guest and backed out a week before saying she can't find someone to go with. Needless to say, I no longer speak to this 'friend' anymore. But, if a 10 year old ACCIDENTALLY did it? Aaw, how sad! At least you'll be dressed up!
