Madison Square Garden Security - Republican Convention
Just wanted the news. Mayor Bloomberg said there will be 10,000 cops surrounding Madison Square Garden. TEN THOUSAND COPS!
I am sure that will probably be split up into shifts (12 hour shifts probably)... but daym thats still a lot of cops.
Especially when the NYPD force is only 40,000 (split up between the five boroughs, transit police, and COs.)
Thats 1/4 of the entire force stationed at the Garden. Man I hope that alleviates some fears here for people working by the Garden or going through Penn Station.

That could pose a problem. I heard there was a lot of looting in Boston because people figured (correctly) that the police would be on security patrol at the convention and not out fighting everyday street crime. be on the lookout.

It's good for people to know that other parts of the city wont be as covered because there will be so much coverage at the Garden.
